Job Summary
The General Manager - Design leads the entire architectural design function, providing strategic direction and overseeing all design coordination activities. The role ensures high-quality, innovative, and commercially aligned design solutions across all building and township projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
- B. Arch required; post-graduate degree in Architecture/Design preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, SketchUp, Photoshop, and related tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Leadership & Strategy:
- Provide overall design direction for all projects, ensuring alignment with brand strategy, business objectives, and market requirements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory norms including Haryana and Punjab bylaws, and oversee collaboration with international architects and consultants.
- Lead project initiation activities-scope definition, timelines, budgets, and design briefs.
Project Design Management:
- Manage multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality, innovation, and adherence to internal standards.
- Review and refine concepts, schematics, detailed drawings, and GFC packages using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, SketchUp, etc.
- Lead design efforts for new site acquisitions including conceptualization, prefeasibility, regulatory strategy, and design inputs for business plans.
Coordination & Approvals:
- Oversee the entire design workflow: concept development, coordination, submissions, and construction documentation.
- Collaborate with architects, structural, MEP, and other consultants to ensure timely delivery of coordinated, error-free drawings.
- Maintain strong relationships with consultants and statutory authorities.
Quality, Compliance & Value Engineering:
- Ensure designs meet market expectations, cost goals, constructability standards, and future expansion needs.
- Introduce flexibility in design to accommodate site conditions and regulatory changes.
- Conduct reviews at key project stages to validate feasibility and compliance.
Stakeholder & Management Interface
- Act as the primary design representative for senior management, providing updates on progress, risks, and decisions.
- Translate business strategies into actionable design directions.
Team Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing design team-coaching, mentoring, and fostering a culture of creativity and accountability.
- Integrate best practices in BIM, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
