Role Summary/Purpose :

Responsible for managing and providing legal support to Global Supply chain in South Asia as well as provide expert advice to the HR and legal/compliance teams, partner with L&E council on specific matters of labour and employment related matters.

Essential Responsibilities :

- The Legal Counsel will be responsible for legal support on matters relating to manufacturing, direct and indirect procurement, bids and tenders, regulatory compliances for factory sites, technology licensing, import and export related matters and advising on labour & employment laws, creating and implementing negotiation strategies.

- Ideal candidates for this position shall have experience (@ 10 years) of providing legal advice and contracts support for manufacturing, procurement, logistics and supply chain related activities, proper corporate governance policies and other regulatory areas, leading and negotiating deals/agreements and the ability to support functional or country specific needs.

Principal tasks include:

- provide legal counseling to the Supply chain team

- Interface with the senior leadership team, other businesses, functional areas and other regional attorneys on issues relating to procurement, bids, tenders, manufacturing, land acquisition, real estate, construction, supply chain and operations, labour & employment, ethics and other corporate governance policies

- partner with the Human Resources team to provide advice on labor and employment laws, drive compliance with these regulations and assist in building sustainable processes.

- Legal and compliance support to the internal clients by providing best in class counseling, training, negotiations, planning, processes and procedures

- Collaborating with members of a strong geographically diverse legal team to achieve consistency and efficiencies.

- Structuring, negotiating, documenting, and closing a wide variety of procurement, logistics, manufacturing transactions

- Advising on applicable regulatory approvals and processes

- Identifying and helping resolve key commercial/compliance related risks,

- Assisting on other projects and responsibilities as may be assigned by the General Counsel,

- Managing/coordinating the activities of outside counsel on these transactions.

- Helping develop systems and processes for transactions in India, including standard form documentation for India deals,

Qualifications/Requirements :

- Excellent legal, negotiation and commercial counseling skills including on contracts, compliance and regulatory.

- A thorough understanding of commercial laws, labour laws, FDI policy, exchange control regulations

- Proven leadership and partnering skills; excellent communications skills (oral and written), ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.

- Strong academic background, excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written), and superior drafting skills.

- Excellent judgment and prioritization skills.

- Ability to work with senior management and corporate functions in a results-oriented, high pressured environment; familiarity with U.S. compliance laws.

- Commercial acumen; ability to make timely decisions and identify risks and mitigation strategies.

- Ability to work well with and motivate others.

- Work experience in an industrial business/environment is desired

- LLB (or equivalent) required; Masters degree (or equivalent) a plus but not required

- At least 5 years in a law practice/ the legal department of a corporation or relevant experience in the industry
