General Counsel cum Chief Compliance Officer - BFS (10-15 yrs)
(i) Policy and Procedure Management - defining, communicating, training and attesting to corporate policies and procedures.
(ii) Compliance Monitoring - evaluating and measuring the state of compliance across the organization.
(iii) Investigations - managing investigations into wrong doing and anything that violates regulatory/legal requirements.
(i) Provide legal support to the Company's business functions.
(ii) Oversee relationships with outside counsel for litigation - explaining the brief, tracking, escalating to management key issues likely to impact financials, steering (through choice of counsel and venue) the success rate of the case
(iii) Represent the company at arbitration and litigation hearings, and any other regulatory hearings.
(iv) Analyse potential liabilities in detail, assess case strategies, interact with and update business heads and external clients (banks and investors)
(v) Monitor and analyze a broad range of laws and regulations that govern the Company; maintain compliance by developing procedures based on applicable laws and rules.
Work experience and skill set:
i) Corporate Compliance Officer or Lawyer with a 10 plus years preferably in areas of compliances, acquisition; divestment; asset and stock sales or Legal Firm or a corporate legal department.
ii) Work experience on buying/ selling distressed assets is a preference and in general and commercial disputes will be a bonus
iii) Critical Skills required: Contract Negotiation, Due diligence. Litigation skills and experience with arbitration and mediation in local and national courts will be a plus.
