Gartner - Senior Specialist - Research (3-5 yrs)

Gurgaon/Gurugram Job Code: 676852

- What makes Gartner Research & Advisory a GREAT fit for you? When you join Gartner, you'll be part of a leading-edge team that values expert insights, bold ideas and intellectual courage. You'll deliver must-have research through compelling client interactions, and contribute to our double-digit growth by providing clients the unbiased insight and advice they need to make the right decisions every day. Through constant learning, discovery and collaboration, you'll help clients deliver on their mission-critical priorities, grow your career and increase your industry impact. We value hard workers and reward you with unlimited opportunity.

- If you're looking to explore what's next in technology and business, Gartner is looking for you. Are you intellectually curious and motivated by ideas? Do you want to create research products that are widely used by executive leaders worldwide? Gartner is searching for an India-based Senior Specialist to join the Peer and Practitioner global research team.

- The Senior Specialist will be responsible for investigating, analyzing and reporting on critical issues facing senior IT executives in leading global corporations.

- This individual will work on a wide range of work streams and written deliverables that require both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including (but not limited to): client interview summaries; white papers, qualitative and quantitative benchmarking reports, and data analysis. Senior Specialists must be intellectually curious and have the desire to quickly develop generalist knowledge. The role is a key feeder to careers reaching the highest levels of the firm.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct wide-ranging secondary literature searches and synthesize information to elicit key insights for use in short white papers.

- Conduct interviews with senior executives, academics and industry experts in search of innovative ideas.

- Perform research by speaking with executives, vendors, and senior researchers. Evaluate, analyze, and structure the information for use in various research deliverables.

- Develop insights that are practical and actionable (not academic), grounded in IT executives- workflows.

- Maintain a regular calendar of research deliverables - best practice case studies, white papers, quick response notes, issue briefs.

- Present research findings verbally and in writing to internal and external audiences. Explain complex ideas in terms busy executives can quickly absorb and apply.

- Closely collaborate with peers and senior stakeholders in India, the US, UK, and Australia as part of global research initiatives.

Candidate Attributes

- This opportunity gives researchers an exposure to the full range of IT leadership-level strategic and management topics. To that end, we are looking for creative, analytically strong, articulate and self-motivated individuals who would like to develop a strong knowledge of the terrain along with building consultative problem-solving skills. We seek candidates who are principally motivated by ideas.

- Unlike management consulting, investment banking, or law, our strategic research positions do not depend on a special appetite or aptitude for sales or business development. Our search for talent is centered without exception on the ability to run deep on a logical, philosophical, or economic problem and resurface with rigorous original insight.

Some of the shared characteristics of our successful hires include:

- Interest in how technology drives business value in large organizations worldwide.

- Outstanding English communications skills, including writing, graphics, and oral communication.

- Self-driven and can work as a part of geographically-distributed teams.

- Excellent project and time management skills.

-Strong appetite to dive deep into a given terrain to develop expertise and distill key findings.

- Ability to locate and procure information from original sources and senior executives.

- Ability to read and listen to lots of information and then be able to question it, restructure it, and create original insights.

- Ability to analyze quantitative and/or qualitative data to identify relevant findings.

- Ability to develop strong research relationships with business executives and content experts.

- Skill at working both independently and in a team environment.

- Aspiration to constantly learn and improve.

Preferred Experience:

- Masters with 3-5 years of research and/or management consulting experience.
