Job Description : 

- This role is a senior level role in TSP Industry Research, responsible for providing thought-leading and strategic Telecommunications Industry insights to our Technology and Service Provider clients (both Telecom service providers and technology vendors) through published research, conversations with client (inquiry), stage presentations, teleconferences, and client meetings.


- It is important that you have a vision for how the Telecommunication industry is transforming digitally worldwide and at a regional level, changes under impact of industrial ecosystem development, leverages technology to transform their business, and how strategic business and technology trends are changing the practices of Product Management, Product Marketing and Product Portfolio Management Leaders targeting this Industry.

What you will do:

- As a Gartner analyst you will meet with clients every day: on the phone, in a video-conference, from the stage at a Gartner event or face-to-face during a sales support visit.


- In every client interaction analysts help clients solve difficult puzzles that lead to better performance. To support these conversations you will research markets, practices and trends and produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply.


- This is a unique opportunity for a creative and dynamic individual to help shape the Industry Strategies used by leading Product Managers, Product Marketers, and Tech CEOs targeting the Telecommunications sector.

- Conduct on-going research and analysis in specific areas of expertise targeted to senior level clients and their key initiatives.


- Working closely with a global research team to create thought provoking content on product differentiation and portfolio transformation, ecosystems and channels build-up and management, and business model transformation, go to market strategies and technology evolution required by the digital disruption across Telecommunications Industry.

- Deliver high quality actionable advice through a variety of media.

- Write a specified number of high quality, clear, actionable, timely, advisory research documents. Adhere to established agenda, template and editing guidelines.

- Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within Telecommunications Industry transformation as well as applicable technology areas with the objective of producing innovative, thought-leading, impactful, analytically-deep, fact-based research output.

- Respond to client questions, create materials for and deliver to clients in person, via teleconference, video conference or webinar and event presentations

- Maintain the Gartner's industry leadership reputation by responding to press inquiries

- Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support in order to retain and grow the business

- Qualitative and quantitative market research is required in order to create valuable research experiences online and in advisory discussions with clients, and having great people skills is crucial.


- This becomes especially relevant as you lead collaborative research to drive positive impact on the business performance of our clients. The right hire will play a key role not only within the Industries Team but will also extend leadership on best practices in the Telecommunications sector.

- The successful candidate is required to understand how the Telecom Industry is developing, help clients in their product portfolio management, partnerships, go to market strategies (e.g. value propositions, messaging and positioning, etc.) as well as assist vendors in overall industry strategy planning and execution.


- This position requires the ability to work with senior managers and senior executives within the client base to develop futuristic and compelling scenarios and recommendations for clients seeking to build their telecom services and/or technology product & service offerings.


- The role will also need to support end user enterprise clients who are consumers of such products & services.

Key coverage requirements for the role - from both a technology and business environment context - may include the following:

- Telecom industry evolution/ecosystem and platform business impact

- Telecom Product portfolio transformation/ use cases for new revenue streams and adjacent market opportunities

- AI and data monetization: technologies, services, pricing, new business models, etc.

- Digital Transformation enablement/ Digital Customer Experience

Beneficial coverage: IoT platforms, Security related CSP service offering

Job Requirements

- Senior product management, product marketing or professional services experience in a software provider, IT services provider, cloud services provider, digital retailer or similar is highly desirable.

- Subject matter expertise in the Telecommunications Industry strategies and product portfolios, with the ability to demonstrate understanding of the underlying technology segments (software, IT Services, Cloud, other).


- The Candidate must be familiar with the global Telecom service providers and vendors, and the competitive interplay between incumbents, emerging providers, disruptors and outsourcers in his/her market.

- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Recent experience (within the past three years) of working in a comms service provider or a consulting company or vendor in IT Services, Software or Cloud providers serving the Telecom Industry, preferably on product and portfolio management specifically for Telecom industry needs. Experience on driving a portfolio transformation is definitely an asset.

- Demonstrate excellent analytical skills; applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing and defending conclusions. Strong business and financial acumen as well as analytical skills are required for this position.

- The candidate must be a strategic and critical thinker, able to efficiently multitask, and to deliver high quality actionable advice on time through a variety of media. The candidate must demonstrate a self-motivated work ethic but also be collaborative within geographically diverse team environment. International experience is desired.

- Articulate and succinct communication skills with public speaking skills an advantage. Current visibility at senior level to Telecom Industry game changers such as Tier 1 CSPs, large cloud giants and leading telecom software solution providers would be a valuable asset.

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with a proven record of academic achievement and/or advanced professional qualification(s) in related field preferred.

- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Skilled at working both independently and in a team environment. The role will require occasional travel.
