About this role:

Gartner's Financial Services Practice is currently seeking a Quantitative Principal for its Quantitative Insight CoE. The team leverages proprietary quantitative data and frameworks to offer original, actionable insights to key business problems facing senior executives across industries.

To that end, we are looking for creative, analytically strong, articulate and self-motivated individuals who would like to develop a strong knowledge of the terrain along with building consultative problem-solving skills.

What you will do:

This is an individual contributor role with expectations to act as an independent, subject matter expert responsible for providing content leadership to quantitative studies.

You will be responsible for developing, supporting, and executing strategic research that is fueled by intensive data collection, in depth research and quantitative analysis. Additionally, the purpose of the role is:

1. To independently lead complex quantitative projects and provide quantitative expertise to major FS projects

2. To work with senior researchers and stakeholders across multiple teams and locations throughout the process

3. To act as a subject matter and quant methodologies expert and provide guidance on quantitative elements including building surveys, developing complex quantitative analysis models, analyzing large datasets and communicating results in clear and visually-compelling presentations

Overall responsibilities:

- Analyzing large, complex, disparate data sets to identify actionable insights for senior executives

- Assisting with large-scale data collection efforts through multi-national panel surveys

- Building benchmark and other standardized data reports for clients with insightful graphics

- Employing analytical tools such as root cause analysis to identify the drivers of clients- business problems and to create hypotheses regarding solutions

- Displaying thought leadership in all aspects of quantitative research including survey design, analysis models, and insight generation

- Driving complex projects forward by employing analytical tools, such as root cause analysis and basic and advanced statistical principles (e.g., regression analysis, cluster analysis, factor analysis, etc.) to identify underlying drivers of client's business problems and create hypotheses regarding solutions.

- Translating research into actionable insights and recommendations that clients can implement

- Independently owning end-to-end creation, development and analysis of large, complex, disparate data sets to identify actionable insights for senior executives

I. Effectively analyze data to generate insights for clients. Specifically:

1) Translate research hypotheses into logical, clearly defined and efficiently constructed quantitative, measurable variables

2) Ensure survey questions are designed in a way that helps in proving research hypotheses

3) Use survey mechanics that generate required sample size and other critical sample/data needs to ensure a high-quality sample;

4) Conduct data analyses to clearly prove/disprove research hypotheses

5) Test results to assess the reliability and validity of data findings

6) Prepare and present data findings in an impactful way that demonstrates confidence in proving research hypotheses and supporting Gartner client priorities.

II. Uphold data quality standards in all deliverables through:

1) Editing of research deliverables to ensure proper and effective use of data findings;

2) Creation of survey and graphic templates to facilitate simple survey design and use by researchers and analysts;

3) Updating and maintaining data assets to ensure that all researchers and analysts have easy access to accurate and timely data to support their work;

4) Identifying external data sources that can be leveraged in research and advisory work and create methods to make them accessible;

5) Collaborating with researchers and analysts to identify areas where data/quantitative analysis can play a role in strengthening Gartner's research;

6) Active attendance at key research milestones to address data related issues

III. Partner with other research teams to deliver analyses for assigned research projects through:

1) Leadership in conveying the goals and needs of the specific quant needs of research and advisory team to the quant COE;

2) Creation and management of the project plan to deliver the quant in the stated time frames and to the stated level of quality;

3) Consistent engagement with the COE to develop findings and address routine workflow issues;

4) Quality check of outputs before sharing with research and advisory team and addressing any related risks or concerns as they are identified;

5) Creation of outputs to be shared across the Gartner research and advisory community.

What you will need:

- Masters in disciplines with a strong quantitative component, including Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Social Science, Psychology, Economics, Econometric, Commerce or Data Science

- 5 to 7 years of total experience, with expertise in data analysis, quantitative research, analytics or bench-marking

- Ability and desire to work extensively in data analysis and quantitative research

- Proficiency with statistical concepts

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point

- Proficiency with SPSS and/or R

- Exceptional record of academic achievements

- Original/creative thinking and superior problem-solving abilities

- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Detail-oriented and strong commitment to high quality results to serve needs of clients and internal partners

- Self-motivated/self-starter approach to projects
