Job Brief:


Engineering Lead is a role within the GDM DevOps team. The role is responsible for leading the team that is responsible for the data sources used by various teams supported by GDM. The data sources include MySQL, Postgres, Aurora RDS, Oracle and any others leveraged by the teams. This position works closely with product owners and development teams to effectively support their data source requirements, provide guidance, migration strategies/planning and production support.


What You Will do:


- Lead the delivery of high quality support for all the data sources used within the GDM tech team


- Mentor and lead DBA team members to continuously improve quality and productivity to achieve business goals


- Develop, construct, test and maintain architectures such as databases, migration strategies, cloud solutions and production support


- Build effective change management process for data sources


- Support development teams for their data source needs


- Provide production support for all the data sources


- Partner with business stakeholders, peers, IT groups and communicate effectively


- Conduct Proof of Concepts for various activities that involve datasources


- Recommend ways to improve reliability, maintenance, efficiency and quality


- Help create infrastructure as a code in AWS and build CI/CD pipelines to deploy


- Follow Agile methodologies


- Proactively monitor the production environment and continuously improve the existing monitoring setup.


- Provide support to the other teams on their AWS cloud-related requirements.


- Write and maintain code for automating the creation of cloud assets using tools such as ansible, terraform, and cloud formation.


- Write and maintain clear documentation and standards for cloud operations.


- Attend daily stand ups and regular scrum meetings.


- Respond to monitoring alerts in a timely manner.


What You Will Need:


- 8+ years of experience in database administration for data sources such as Oracle, PostgreSQL and MSSql


- 2+ years of experience in lead capacity managing small teams and influencing datasource architectures

- Advanced knowledge of software development methodology, techniques & standards.


- Strong understanding of software design concepts, patterns, tools and best practices.


- Ability and willingness to work onsite and offshore teams


- Experience with Oracle is a plus
