Product Development Engineer/Data Scientist (Python)

Product Development Engineer/Data Scientist :

- Goals Optimization Engine (GOE) [Press Release] is an FT proprietary algorithm built on a SaaS platform focused on providing optimal Goals Based Wealth Management solutions to retail, retirement and institutional investors.

- The algorithm is built on advanced Mathematical Models leveraging Quantitative Finance principles around Probability Theory and Stochastic Calculus for Investment Optimization within a Multi-Asset Portfolio Management framework.

I. Job Summary :

- The role is a mix of backend product development and data science and requires 1-5 years of hands-on expertise in Python programming as an Object Oriented Programming language, a passion for Research, ability to understand underlying mathematical and stochastic models and an understanding of APIs used in SaaS Product development.

- The role would look at advancing the algorithm and create new products centered around usage of AI/ML algorithms such as Reinforcement Learning and Neural networks.

- The developed algorithm (code) would go into creating new capabilities for a B2B2C wealthtech product offered via SaaS, on-premise or offline modes.

II. Job Responsibilities :

- To contribute hands-on towards developing various code modules of the Wealthtech product brought to market via various deployment modes.

- Adhere to product development best practices and to Object Oriented Programming methodology.

- Put into practice proven expertise in advanced mathematics, especially mathematical finance.

- To design, develop, test and document the product features or capabilities developed to standards.

- To provide rapid fixes to any issues identified in the product or deployments.

III. Requirements :

Education (or equivalent experience) :

- Master's / Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related disciplines, from Tier-1 Institutes in India or abroad.

- Competitive coding background, certificates or awards would be looked at favorably

- Interest in Investments and progression towards a CFA would be desirable.

Experience Core Skills :

- 1-5 years of experience in Python code development for product development (Mandatory)

- Usage of Python as a programming language and not use of pre-built packages

- Understanding and prior experience with Dynamic Programming is desirable.

- Knowledge of and Experience with Stochastic processes, probabilities, Simulations, Linear Algebra, Markovian Decision Processes (state space models)

- Knowledge and experience of key machine learning and deep learning framework, e.g. Keras, TensorFlow

- Exceptional Excel skills in mathematical modeling.

Experience Other Skills :

- Proven ability to take initiative and work under pressure in a changing/growing environment.

- Should be self-driven and be able to work in an unstructured environment.

- Experience in software development lifecycle best practices, including test driven and agile methodologies.

- Hands-on, demonstrates taking ownership of issues to ensure successful conclusion.

- Excellent communication and consensus building skills.
