About the team

Inventory planning and control (IPC) is the central planning team in flipkart - responsible for just utilization of storage assets (FCs) and manpower deployed in those FCs, while supporting business aspirations and enabling Flipkart to meet customer expectations.

IPC team is responsible for inventory placement across multiple assets - right inventory in the right location, to ensure right selection is available to customers, and within acceptable cost & speed guardrails.

We work very closely with business and supply chain to ensure infrastructure and resources are available to support  growth aspirations, at the same time allocate resources across Seller - BUs to optimise Flipkart level business goals.

IPC gets involved in events to plan inventory buildup for each Seller - BU to support them to follow their own trajectory basis supply availability and working capital optimization needs 

We also support smooth running of operations for inwarding and returns to ensure working capital is always put to productive use, and in doing so pass on right signals for planning to ensure efficiency improvement in overall operations.

About the role

Responsible for driving Inventory planning for one of critical category, understanding its nuances and building inventory planning policies (buying, placement, inventory balancing etc.) helping to drive key inventory metrics

In-stock, causals of In-stock drop & driving structural interventions to drive In-stock at right inventory level (DOH days on hand) Regional Utilisation, Inventory turns, In-stock and Inventory health.  In addition contribute to one of the capability teams within Inventory Planning , namely Placement, Policy & Health 

You will be part of the Horizontal and will take the End to End view of Inventory and decisions which impacts Service to our customers, Cost and Cash. This role will give you opportunity to manage Inventory at Flipkart scale very uncommon in ecommerce domain

What you'll do:

- Should have very strong problem solving and design solving skills

- Rational decision-making, negotiating and influencing skills with an analytical work style. The ability to work effectively on a team or independently is highly desirable

- Ability to deal with huge ambiguous data sets coming  out disparate systems and in tools and spreadsheets of  several distributed teams

- Business and Financial acumen to convert a number analysis into a business story

- Ability to work with large data set on spreadsheets is a must.

- Experience in R and Python is a plus

- Must be innovative, detail-oriented, experienced in highly visible/controversial projects

- Ability to deal with huge ambiguous data sets coming  out disparate systems  and  in tools and spreadsheets of  several distributed teams 

- Strong business and Financial acumen to convert a number analysis into a business story. Build and fortify a strong business/data models by going in depth

- Customer first Approach in Solving any problems and ability to Quantify the Risk to the Customer Metrics for any decision or approach

- Ability to stay unbounded and do not restrict himself to the Job Description.

- Potential to change the job description himself with directional changes (Flipkart is a very dynamic work environment and we out do our roles almost every 3 months)

- Strong Self Conviction and passionate
