Finance Manager at Uganda (East Africa)

Qualification: Chartered Accountant with at least 15 year of experience.

Reporting To: Assistant Managing Director & Managing Director

Linguistic skills: English: Written (Fluent) Spoken (Fluent)

Experience:

- Minimum 15 years of experience manufacturing sector, with minimum 5 years in a management position directly responsible management & supervision of Account & Finance department

- Hands on experience in a complex manufacturing industrial sector.

- Should have headed a team of at-least 15-20 people and able to handle whole commercial activities and day to day commercial operation of the company.

- Must have exposure to ERP and have basic understanding of developing customized requirements in ERP

Age: Minimum 40 years old

Job Profile:

A. Finance & Commercial Activities

- Prepare and analyze the cash flow/fund flow statement and to ensure effective utilization of fund

- Monitor debtors (shop/customers wise) of each division and follow-up with Operation/Marketing Head to control the collection

- Monitor Inventory level for all divisions as well as show wise and point out excess inventory items to Management.

- Implement effective controls for banking activities and conduct regular checks

- Prepare and submit necessary reports to the banks

- Ensure proper insurance system for company's assets

B. Management Information System :

- Preparation and consolidation of monthly MIS and reports to the Management

- Review MIS with top Management, highlight and discuss all abnormal, important & critical information to the Management

- Implement relevant and reliable routine reports on daily/weekly/Monthly basis

- Carry out monthly and annual operations forecast/cash flow projection and inform the management on the same with for any excess/short fall

- To compute and analyze machine wise/shop wise/lab wise/product wise contribution

- Develop new workflow system for capturing the business information in a more efficient and timely manner to smoothen and ease the process of information collection

- Preparation of various financial data as and when required

C. Profitability and Cost Control Measures :

- Analyze the profitability by developing profit centers as per requirement of the business

- Develop targets for sales as well as profits, encourage sales/productions in charge to achieve the targets on monthly/quarterly/yearly basis

- Review the profitability by monitoring profit centers, discuss and suggest measures to increase profit to top Management

- Maintain an effective and efficient Machine-wise/Product-wise costing system.

- Ensure that correct costing figures are provided at all times for calculation of correct

- Analyze the expenses and suggest measures to control cost.

- To constantly look for, and encourage creative ideas for cost reduction in all areas of the company operations, and to support such ideas by helping to evaluate feasibility of the ideas.

- To train cost center heads about cost reduction and implications of high costs on the company's profitability as well as survival

D. Budgeting & Strategic Business Plans :

- Prepare suitable formats to collect information with respect to the annual budget for following year and strategic plan for at least three years

- Ensure timely preparation of annual budget and three year strategic plan as per the format and prescribed guidelines get the same approved by the top management.

- Compile monthly reports to analyses actual performance with the budgets and point out variations, if any.

- Prepare project/feasibility reports of new ventures and review & discuss with the Management & the Board.

E. To ensure compliance of all statutory compliance, timely payment of statutory dues, timely submission of statutory returns.

F. Co-ordination with Management and other departments so as to ensure that common goal of the Company is achieved.

G. Human Resource Development and Administration :

- Assist top Management in Human Resources Development and Administration to achieve organizational goal

- Develop & monitor job description of local & expat sub ordinates to take up higher responsibilities through on the job training and effective delegation.

- Act as an effective team player, to ensure inter department coordination, to ensure transparent, free flow and meaningful communication at all level.

- Create positive and disciplined work culture

H. Team Management

- The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing a team of 20+ individuals, overseeing their deliverables, and driving compliance and efficiency. This team is responsible for: accounting, finance, procurement, stores, debt collection, statutory compliance, ERP development and HR.
