Job Title: Technology Sub Portfolio Leader

The Opportunity

There's no argument that as technology has evolved, many business operations have become simpler and more efficient. As an IT Professional within Client Technology you- ll play a key role in that mission, driving collaboration and improving the delivery of business solutions for sponsors, stakeholders, and users.

Your key responsibilities :

Main objective / Purpose of job / why does it exist / expected to accomplish.

- Own the solution area, working with business counterparts, to create vision, strategy and roadmap for the solution area and products used in this area.

- Applies project management methodology, tools, techniques and terminology - Applies the project management methodology, tools, techniques and terminology to drive successful execution of projects associated with this position.

- Proficiency in Agile and SAFE frameworks is essential to this role.

- Defines and manages production operations process and escalation - Works with production operations teams to secure client data and provide incident detection and response plans.

- Coordinates with Product Management team with Product Owners - coordinates with key business stakeholders to align technical platform and solution development with business priorities and requirements. Drives the solution roadmap and owns release planning.

- Technical breadth/depth of knowledge in Microsoft technologies is preferred. This includes ADFS, SharePoint, SQL, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.

- General knowledge of modern web development is preferred - including JavaScript frameworks, responsive (bootstrap) design, HTTP/CSS/XML, SAML.

- Understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment, build automation, source code control (TFS/Git) is preferred.

- General knowledge of high-availability architectures is preferred.

- Manages changes to project scope - Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques to keep the project plan accurate, updated, reflective of authorized project changes as defined in the change management plan, and facilitate customer acceptance

- Communicates project plan - Ensures a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Project Plan, to align the stakeholders and team members-

- Monitors and controls project work - Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, such as Earned Value Analysis (EVA), to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders

- Develops communication plan - Identifies key project team members by defining roles and responsibilities to create a project organization structure to develop the communication plan

- Oversees approved actions - Implements the approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events to minimize the impact of the risks on the project

- Performs project financial management - Develops overall project budget and controls costs for the duration of the project, including planned, actual, and forecast for both operational and capital expenses

- Defines and manages project deliverables - Works with the project team to define necessary project deliverables and then manage their delivery

- Leads the team through the estimating process to support the creation of a detailed project schedule

- Develops and manages the overall project schedule compliant with the organization's standards

- Ensures adherence to defined project Quality Assurance processes and the rectification of quality issues identified through this process

- Ensures Quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure

- Manages program resource plan - budgets and plans for resources to cover the broad range of skills required to govern, design, build, test, run, operate, and service the solution portfolio. Ensures a comprehensive program job skills matrix and consistent hiring/onboarding processes.

- Develops and motivates project team - Improves team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, training, and motivating to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and boost morale

- Conducts kick-off meeting - Conducts a kick-off meeting with all key stakeholders to announce the start of the project and review the overall project plan and gain consensus

- Identifies, documents, and manages project risks, assumptions, and issues to understand project limitations

- Conflict resolution - Uses various techniques to resolve conflicts that may arise during the project

- Facilitates meetings - Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide participants toward a meeting's objectives; modifies behavior according to tasks and individuals present

- Demonstrates high ethics and values - Inspires loyalty and trust, handles oneself ethically following core values and beliefs

- Recognizes contributions - Praises people for a job well done

- Embraces diversity - Open to diverse points of view, treats people with respect

Skills and attributes for success

- Strategic technology advisor to sub-portfolio team and evangelist for solutions and technologies of the portfolio

- Responsible for business relationship management at the sub-portfolio level including establishing, sustaining and strengthening these relationships

- Responsible for the identification and management of sub-portfolio demand and the development, delivery, and operation of solutions that meet these needs

- Works with sub-portfolio customers and business sponsors to help drive, develop, and implement a strategic portfolio plan to provide technology solutions within and across sub-portfolios

- Manages the service delivery professionals that are responsible for the development and delivery of the Service Line's programs

- Requires a leader with a strong software development background, ability to manage multiple programs and mastery of the technical knowledge of program and project management

- Requires deep sub-portfolio and technical domain knowledge as well as deep understanding of products, services, and customers

- Requires understanding of the enterprise architecture process and applicable standards

- Requires understanding of product and asset portfolio management and solution business case development

- Requires understanding of the software delivery lifecycle and its methods, such as SAFe

- +3 years of experience leading teams in software delivery settings including in Agile environments

- +5 years of experience in one or more of Software Development, Software Development Management, Operations Management (in Applications or IT Infrastructure), Delivery Management

- 14+ years of professional experience in IT

To qualify for the role you must have :

- Minimum 14 years in a corporate IT environment

- 5+ years- experience delivering enterprise-wide solutions

- Experience in Program\Project Management methods

- Demonstrated experience in utilizing flexible sourcing options

- Demonstrated experience in working with technology vendors /external resource providers and managing key vendor contacts to deliver value

- Work experience in a professional services industry, preferred

- Possesses advanced analytical skills and problem-solving skills needed to manage multiple factors on a project simultaneously

- Applies superior business knowledge/understanding to manage and meet sponsor and customer needs

- Monitors and manages project scope, schedule, budget, risks and quality to ensure project activities/tasks are occurring as planned and any variances are identified along with corrective actions to address variances

- Identifies potential points of contention for missed deliverables; creates and implements strategy to mitigate shortfalls in timeline and budget

- Balances both the - science- of how to perform project management and the art of project management, which is learned through experience and skill training/application

- Identifies unstated customer expectations

- Identifies and align with the strategic business direction

- Escalates to management/governance, as appropriate

Supervision responsibilities:

- Demonstrated experience in managing teams consisting of cross functional, global, and virtual groups

- Directly supervises staff and assign responsibility to project team members

- Directly manages other project managers, being responsible for guidance and advice on their professional development

- Coaches, mentors and supports other project managers as well as other project resources as needed
