EY - AM - Analyst - Research & Insights Group - Transaction Advisory Services (5-8 yrs)

Position summary:

This position is for an analyst in the Research and Insights Group. The candidate will be working closely with the global domain analyst and other EY Knowledge / Global Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) teams/stakeholders and carry out business research, gather competitive & market intelligence, deliver strategic analysis for Global TAS leadership, and conduct quantitative analysis and develop thought leadership reports/white papers in the context of our Transactions Advisory Services practice.

The analyst will be expected to work with the Senior Domain Analyst and engage with senior TAS leadership, identify their key strategic issues/priorities, and develop solutions to these. The analyst will also be expected to lead complex, global projects for the most senior stakeholders in the organisation, form conclusions, and provide insightful commentary on various market events.

The candidate should have experience and proven track record in business research and analysis, report writing, visualisation techniques and corporate finance. The role requires collaboration with a virtual team of colleagues across the global knowledge community to serve the TAS stakeholder group.

I. Function and team overview

About EY Knowledge: EY Knowledge is a global team of professionals that helps EY sector & account teams and service lines to understand their clients- business environments, win work and deepen relationships by providing enabling services, tools, insights and content. Knowledge is part of the EY Markets organization.

About the team: R&I is a globally connected research and analysis function of EY Knowledge with presence across several countries including India. The TAS team supports the key stakeholder groups in EY TAS to produce quantitative tools, CI solutions and qualitative analysis, such as thought leadership reports or studies on global economic trends.

II. Essential functions-

1. Research and analysis:

a. Proven skills in research and analysis in corporate finance - especially M&A. Should have a knowledge of, and preferable hands on experience, of the major databases and sources.

b. Experience in writing thought leadership reports/white papers. Should have strong information synthesis capabilities along with a strategic mindset to explore new ways of delivery mechanisms and visualisation techniques.

c. Should have good knowledge about TAS services and background relating to global TAS services landscape will be highly advantageous.

d. Should posses Excel skills. Should have an ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets using quantitative techniques, along with capabilities to present findings in an insightful manner.

e. Ability to perform financial experiments and to connect the results of these experiments to real-world actions and events.

f. Background relating to M&A and capital markets, and corporate finance highly advantageous

2. Project management:

a. Planning and execution: Develops project plans and manages projects, including objectives, timelines, milestones, priorities, team member responsibilities and work products.

b. Monitoring: Monitors progress and regularly updates stakeholders on potential overruns and changes; re-negotiates timelines, scopes changes and budgets if necessary.

c. Collaborating: Develops project work products collaboratively with team members that focus on measurable business impact.

Education

- Masters degree in relevant field (e.g., Economics, Finance, Business) or equivalent work experience

Work experience

- 5 to 6 years in corporate environment

- Strong knowledge and proven track record in conducting qualitative analysis, competitive analysis and business research

- Detailed knowledge and proven track record in the relevant domain

- Understanding of the domain (at global level) will be a strong advantage

- Knowledge and experience within a professional services environment an advantage Skills

- Excellent spoken and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills

- Strong business writing, synthesis and expression skills

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including financial analysis skills

- Good project and time management skills with the ability to complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines

- Expert in information sources relevant to the domain

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
