2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Reach to Teach (RTT) is an education charity that works with governments and other like-minded organisations to improve the quality of primary education. RTT exists to transform lives of children in remote and marginalised communities in India by focusing on transforming classroom teaching practices and teacher-to-child engagement.

Founded in 2003, RTT has grown into an established charity improving the learning outcomes of children in the state of Gujarat and believes that the most important factor in improving childrens learning is the quality of teaching. RTTs technical know-how has brought international best practices in education to rural schools in Gujarat and they are committed to continue using these skills to ensure that these best practices are reflected in schools state-wide.

RTT is currently focused on working in coalition with other organisations to support the Government of Gujarats work to deliver systemic change to generate better foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes.

GCERT Project

RTT has recently signed an MOU with Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT), the apex institution in the state for the enhancement of qualitative education at primary and secondary schools in Gujarat.

Working closely with the Reach to Teachs (RTTs) education leadership resources, the GCERT support programme team will deploy RTTs expertise and knowledge of international best practices in the development of education professionals to support the GCERT in developing and delivering their programmes. The initial work of the team will involve scoping and understanding the work of GCERT to identify where they will be able to add value following RTTs mandate to promote quality teaching and learning.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent shall support the training delivery vertical within the GCERT support programme to build a pool of highly competent state-level trainers who shall train the district and zonal level trainers using sophisticated training delivery methodologies. S/he shall work with the Programme Manager, Training Design Expert and GCERT training team to help design an effective training delivery approach that uses modern techniques of classroom engagement and adult learning principles to affect the overall quality of the training.

The incumbent shall implement and operationalise a robust training delivery system that will ensure a consistent standard of training delivery approach is maintained at every level and take effective interventions to build a culture of learning and help generate interest in training amongst teachers.

Reporting to the Director - GCERT Support Programme, the Expert Trainer shall be responsible for the following:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

A. Training

(1) Build an understanding of the unique challenges of the participants and craft a training plan that addresses the same;

(2) Establish what competencies the end learner needs to develop in order to impart quality education in schools;

(3) Work in collaboration with the Programme Manager, Training Design Expert and government officials to prioritize a set of learning objectives and to ensure that the content supports to the programme objectives; Review the new and existing training content and suggest changes, if any;

(4) Lead, plan and manage the training delivery interventions for GCERT support, with an appreciation of longer-term impact; Ensure plans complement and feed into the broader operational and strategic plans of the GCERT programme;

(5) Analyse and interpret past data, identify gaps, establish the need and test solutions for effective training delivery methods;

(6) Ensure that the training reflects best practice teaching and learning approaches for foundational literacy and numeracy;

(7) Use a variety of tools and blended learning approaches such as presentations, slow-paced learning, online, experiential and on the job training to impart quality training;

(8) Provide coaching to the trainers on areas such as how to generate audience interest, attendance, attention, building engagement, credibility and rapport;

(9) Create standards for measuring results and proficiency for the learning outcomes and help operationalise a system for measuring the programme; Gather feedback from a variety of groups such as participants, GCERT leadership, students, and build insights into the programme for continuous improvement;

(10) Operationalise a system for reviewing individual trainees and giving feedback for improvement;

(11) Establish a system to help participants demonstrate what they are learning with the help of simulations, role-plays, group discussions and hands-on practice;

(12) Work with the Programme Manager and government officials to create a training calendar and operationalise the training programme;

B. Communication and Stakeholder Management

(1) Build a relationship of trust and credibility with the government trainers and continue to strengthen the same. Advise and support the GCERT team (government employees) in the successful implementation of the training programme;

(2) Work effectively with the trainers, government officials and other RTT professionals in co-creating, evaluating and triangulating insights to establish a consistent method and approach;

(3) Work with the Programme Manager, Director, Training Design Expert and Content Development Expert in identifying dependencies, synergies, roadblocks and risks and work in collaboration to mitigate those in time;

(4) Regularly update internal and external stakeholders of progress and changes on project milestones and issues;

C. Teamwork and People Management

(1) Promote and role model RTTs management culture of openness, innovation, involvement, teamwork and performance;

(2) Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and exhibit RTTs values and behaviours at all times;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

(1) Applicants must be a graduate from a recognized university;

(2) Post Graduate degree/ diploma/ certification in Education, Training, Social Sciences, HR, Organizational Behavior or relevant field, from an accredited/ recognised institution, shall be an advantage.

Experience:

(1) Five years experience in handling multi-stakeholder projects ideally within the government or education sector;

(2) Extensive experience of delivering high impact training to the trainers, ideally within the education sector;

(3) Experience of coaching and mentoring trainers methods of training delivery, principles of adult learning, manage training environment, operations and logistics.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Knowledge of trends and developments in adult learning principles;

(2) Excellent facilitation skills in delivering high impact training in transformative, change management initiatives;

(3) Knowledge of establishing learning objectives, designing training content and use of learning management system;

(4) Familiarity with effective teaching and learning approaches for foundational literacy and numeracy;

(5) Highly creative, energetic and high level of engagement for effective delivery of training;

(6) Adept at speaking, able to deliver instructions that are accurate, clear and concise, excellent listening skills;

(7) Ability to articulate and communicate well to all stakeholders (both verbally and in writing) in a manner that meets the diverse needs of different audiences;

(8) Ability to read, write and speak in Gujarati at an expert level;

(9) Ability to conduct primary and secondary research for identifying the newest trends and incorporate them in training approach;

(10) Ability to successfully manage project deliverables in stipulated time and budget;

(11) Ability to manage the learning environment, create a productive and safe environment for learning, identify disagreements, diffuse conflict and take action to resolve dysfunctional behaviour in the class;

(12) Ability and willingness to travel as per the job requirements.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
