Engineering Manager/Lead - IT Firm (8-15 yrs)
Designation : Engineering Manager - Lead level
POSITION PURPOSE :
Lead the entire engineering function across all business areas in specific industry targeted:
- Lead the hiring and mentoring of the engineering team along consisting of software engineers along with engineering leadership consisting of engineering managers.
- Own all fronts of engineering efforts including CloudOps and Release engineering.
WHAT YOU DO :
- Finding, leading, growing, and inspiring a talented team of engineers focused on building and managing the android app platform.
- Collaborating with product, design, data analytics and engineering on the next generation of our industry-leading agriculture platform.
- Leading an efficient and effective Agile software development process to manage a deep backlog and launch iteratively developed products.
- Motivating and providing the necessary tools for engineers to work with the confidence to create simple solutions to complex problems.
- Ensuring stability of android app product(s) through robust, scalable and fault-tolerant software development practices.
- Helping your team meet their goals and strive to be their best.
- Acting as an active source of engineering talent and working with recruiting teams to build and scale the future of engineering at android app.
- Aligning the teams goals and objectives towards the Bigger Picture of the Climate Corporation.
- Representing android app and Climate and presenting at local Meetups, User Groups, and Conferences
- Partnering with leadership across the org to build and deliver the software roadmap for sales enablement capabilities and features.
- Acting as an active source of engineering talent and working with recruiting teams to build and scale teams.
- Working with architect teams to review proposed solutions and contributing as needed.
- Creating and managing a delivery plan and partner with stakeholders across the organization on execution.
- Assessing business impact, prioritizing initiatives and quickly reacting to a fast-changing, dynamic environment.
- Successfully planning, organizing and delivering a strong agile software development train.
- Ensuring solid development and release practices are followed that meet stringent audit / compliance standards.
- Tracking metrics to measure adoption and effectiveness of support tools.
- Building self-service/ declarative interfaces for basic configuration and customization for key features.
- Providing technical leadership, career development, and mentoring to team members.
- Maintaining high morale and empower engineers to do the best work of their careers.
- Fostering innovation, collaboration, and teamwork within the team.
- Developing metrics measuring customer experience and effectiveness of Knowledge.
- Working with business stakeholders and analysts to deeply understand use cases and validate them through the lifecycle of products and features - collaborating with Product, Design, Commercial, and -Marketing on new features in new regions.
- Showing business and technical judgment that will accelerate time to market of releases, while incrementally moving our products/features towards the long term vision - discussing and presenting technical matters with business people and business matters with technical people.
WHO YOU ARE :
- 8+ years of industry experience in software development or sales enablement technologies, including 3 years in Software as a Service or Platform as a Service
- 5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager / Director.
- 5+ years hands-on experience developing robust back-end services used by multiple client platforms using Agile, Scrum, Kanban or similar development practices.
- 2+ years experience with deployment in large cloud-based distributed environments.
- 6+ years of demonstrated ability to lead and grow a technical team.
- Bachelors or an advanced degree in computer science/engineering, IT, electronics or information science.
- Executive management degree.
- Demonstrated ability to discover, document and deliver a product based on requirements of customers, partners, product managers, and other platform stakeholders.
- Experience with typical software development, deployment, and monitoring tools, including but not limited to git, gitlab, Jenkins, Travis, JIRA, New Relic, Splunk, Docker, TestRail.
- Experience with AWS or similar distributed architecture
- A passion for leading, coaching and growing Engineers at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver software using an Enterprise Agile process.
- Project leadership and management skills both internal to and across engineering teams
- Strong communicator who leads by example and knows how to set achievable high bars of performance.
- Ability to architect and have a hand in the design and code review processes for consumer-facing applications.
- Results and goal oriented with a mindset of iterative continuous improvement vs. initial perfection.
- Experience in products that focus on an evolving audience.
- Experience in introducing technology to technologically backward audience.
- Experience in managing hyper-localized products.
- Experience implementing agile with scrum methodology.
- Mobile browser experience is a plus.
