Job Purpose :

- Work with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships.

- Update and maintain Group Compliance Obligation Register, including identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; developing/implementing corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and providing general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

- Identify compliance deficiencies.

- Assist the business with regulatory requirements & ensure adherence.

- Develop and implement operational compliance audits, including Independence audits

- Assist CCO in developing bank-wide Compliance, KYC and AML strategy.

- To take decision etc. in absense of CCO.

Main Tasks :

Compliance Program :

- Develop, initiate, maintain, and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Manage day-to-day operation of the Program.

- Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Oversee a system for uniform handling of such violations.

- Collaborate with other departments to direct compliance issues and resolution.

- Active review and approval of all potential independence and other compliance violations and any applicable waivers

- Ensure full regulatory compliance across all relevant areas of responsibility.

- Reviewing and updating policy and procedures to accommodate regulatory changes and ensure staff compliance therewith.

- Implementation where appropriate international best compliance practices and standards.

- Developing bank-wide Compliance, KYC and AML strategy.

- Maintain ongoing awareness/knowledge of all regulations set by the Central Bank and interpret the same to the relevant units within the organization to ensure adherence.

Safeguarding the bank from potential losses and risks that relate to Compliance including AML :

- Ensuring review and investigation of all breaches, discrepancies and irregular activities cases are conducted and corrective actions are recommended in a timely and professional manner.

- Develop and implement operational compliance audits, including Independence audits

- Ensuring the proper management of Preparing / Reporting / Presenting MIS required to be submitted to Regulators, Management and Head office.

Compliance & implementation of Compliance Policies and Procedures :

- Reviewing new regulations and working with the business to ensure compliance, while taking appropriate actions to ensure the business complies with new and/or amended regulations, through development of policies & business procedures, consistent with regulatory & business standards.

- Drafting & updating compliance policies and procedures.

- Assisting the business and providing advice and consultation on regulatory requirements.

- Ensuring that all business groups are aware of domestic and international regulations

- Identifying compliance deficiencies, along with corrective action plan.

- Managing external correspondence & messages (e.g. Regultor instructions, Correspondent Banks queries and AML questionnaires etc).

- Meeting all regulatory reporting requirements and record keeping.

- Providing training as well as developing training materials (AML, KYC & Compliance related) & have the same circulated to enhance general AML & Compliance awareness & culture within the business.

- Analytical mind-set having keen observational qualities and an eye for detail.

- Ability to drive change through strong collaborative skills and ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams.

- Strong relationship building and management skills.

Qualifications :

- Chartered Accountancy or MBA (Finance/Accounting), and Company Secretary or LLB.

Experience :

- 10-15 years of experience, with exposure to Banking, Corporate Banking and Auditing.

- 10 years of work experience in Regulatory Compliance role in Banking organization.
