Job description :

One of our leading MNC client is looking for an excellent leader,Serve as the lead on EHS department ensuring that the site is operating to company standards, for all aspects inclusive of Permit to work, Risk assessment, Contractor safety, safety committee, emergency preparedness, wastewater Management, Ammonia, air emissions, chemicals, spills management, waste manage ment and portable water.

Details as Below :

Position - EHS Manager

Location - Nizam (Hyderabad)

Roles and Responsibilities :

Serve as the lead on EHS department ensuring that the site is operating to company standards, for all aspects inclusive of Permit to work, Risk assessment, Contractor safety, safety committee, emergency preparedness, wastewater Management, Ammonia, air emissions, chemicals, spills management, waste management and portable water.

- Implementation of EHS concepts (e.g. policies, procedures, guidelines, directives) and ensure EHS preventive measures and objectives.

- Drive implementation of Safety Management system, Behavior based safety, Process safety management, Environmental (aspect & impacts) and EHS standards are maintained in the brewery.

- Ensure compliance with legal obligations and company requirements. Track and regularly report the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives to Brewery head and Functional head at corporate.

Key Responsibilities :

- Be the primary contact for plant-related EHS activities.

- Assists plant leadership and staff in understanding EHS regulations and standards, including guidance on handling EHS compliance, inspections, and citations.

- Advise and lead to incorporate environmental health and safety principles and concepts to prevent workplace, operational hazards and environmental impact.

- Advise and assist the plant head and other persons concerned in planning, organizing, controlling and maintaining activities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for work including setting objectives.

- Conduct plant inspection of all the plants and ensure compliance.

- Lead Internal Safety audit of over all the plants and ensure compliance.

- Ensure smooth operation of Effluent Treatment Plant, Sewage Treatment Plant.

- Ensure submission of various statutory returns like treated effluent quality, ambient air quality, Hazardous waste returns etc.

- Obtain yearly approvals under Environmental Protection Law, Consent for operation, and Hazardous waste authorization.

Subject Matter Expert (SME):

- Act as the EHS subject matter expert on all environmental related areas, risk assessments, processes and auditing.

- Support brewery in conducting and reviewing due diligence on brownfield, greenfield and operational brewery, ensuring full legal compliance

- Collaborate with cross function team to lead the Emergency response team, Fire Fighters and First Aiders.

- Assist the WTP/ETP/STP O&M team for day to day operation.

- Provide in-depth knowledge support on all EHS related legal & statutory like factories act, environment protection act, hazardous management rules, etc

Capability development :

- Coordinate with plant HR team to Lead, train and develop members at site on all the EHS activity. (KPI Target: 5 mandays per person per year).

- Ensure that all employees are inducted, as per the safety procedures.

- Identify the training needs of staff as per the training matrix and liaise with managers to nominate staff for training courses.

- Monitor staff training, and report on training targets/compliance to the plant manager, departmental heads and EHS Lead.

- Conduct awareness day celebration like World Environment Day, National Safety Week, Earth day, Water day, etc.

- Drive Rewards and Recognition to develop safety culture among the workforce.

- Co-ordinate the unit safety committee meetings

Communication:

- High-level verbal and written communications skills. (English and vernacular language)

- Rapport building with various stakeholders in around the neighborhood of the unit.

- Able to communicate with different team.

- Liaison with Government and statutory authority.

- Handles matters related to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents (both internal & external as per matrix).

Documentation :

- Compiles safety documentation as per the Safety Manual requirements for the facility and keep readily accessible to process employees and management. Keeps updated on an annual basis.

- Maintains all records as are necessary relating to first aid, Medical Treatment cases, Loss time Injury, Disabling Injury and Fatality.

Accountability and Responsibility:

- Devise plan to reduce the high-level risk identified in the hazard analysis.

- Control all risks associated with non-routine and emergency work through permit to work system.

- Conduct routine work permit audit along with the brewery head/Leadership team.

- Contractor Management Plant: Guide in implementing systems for identification, induction and access control working closely with the contractors representatives.

- Contractor Management Project Contractors: Guide in implementing construction safety systems through contractor safety coordinators

- Manage plant modifications / projects through a change management system which includes pre and post safety audits.

- Train and implement for effective usage of LOTO system for all type of energies.

- Ensures proper operation and control of all waste water treatment and recycling system, for comprehensively abiding with statutory regulations.

Monitor and review:

- Legal compliance tracker review and counter measures for the gaps identified on monthly basis.

- Management Information System (MIS): KPI leading & lagging indicator of EHS function on monthly basis and present to the top management.

- Conduct various EHS inspection and audit on theme based like PPE audit, machine guard audit, Interlocks audit,

- Conduct mock drills on various scenario to meet the any disasters.

Budget responsibilities: As per sanctioned budget

Key contacts:

- Internal Brewery Head, Asset Care, Production, HR and Admin, Procurement and Logistics, Quality, Finance, HO functional team, Workforce, Contractors and Helpers

- External Local regulatory and community welfare bodies

Measures to success:

- Testing of all equipment with competent authority as per the legal and statutory requirement.

- Coordination with statutory authority for obtaining relevant license.

- Comprehensive site Hazard Analysis conducted and thoroughly implemented.

- All employees continuously trained on the Hazards and use of PPE

- Regular site safety committee meetings conducted.

- Regular fire drills and first aid safety activities conducted.

- Trained and identified first aid champions are available in each shift

- Quick and adequate response mechanism to major accidents is available on site

- Robust and active continuous improvement program on Safety in place.

- All discharge standards for water and air emission are complied with thoroughly and no censure received from statutory bodies.

- All safety equipment and PPE in appropriate place and validated

- All factory waste (hazardous and non-hazardous) is stored in identified place and removed from site periodically to ensure proper hygiene.

- All KPIs on EHS and water usage plus carbon emissions are regularly tracked and there is continuous improvement at the site

Job holder profile :

Qualifications: Basic Qualification: B.E/B. Tech Degree in (Mech/Civil/Chemical/Electrical / Biotechnology/ EEE/ Bio-Chemical or Equivalent) with

i) One-year Diploma in Safety issued by CLI/RLI.

OR

One-year Diploma in Industrial Safety as approved by the state government.

ii) M.E/M.Tech in Industrial Safety / Environment Engineering.

Additional :

i) Lead auditor in ISO 14001 & 45001

ii) Nebosh/OSHA Certificate holder.

Experienced required: Minimum 12 years in manufacturing with (8-10 years in EHS)

Job essentials: Must have knowledge in implementing HSE policies and programs.

Languages required: English: Read/Speak/Write fluent level

Mandatory: Knowledge to Read/Speak/Write vernacular language of the state where the appointment of job is described.
