Purpose of the Role We are looking for someone to join our communications team in India, and tell the story of a company that has transformed, and continues to transform itself. As a Communications Manager you will have existing relationships with media, influencers and thought leaders and an innate ability to tell inspiring stories. Position Summary - Key Responsibilities - As a Communications Manager you will create compelling materials and assets as well as devise and implement external and internal communications strategies focused on telling stories around our core technology, our products, our people, our places, and the Dyson philosophy. - You will overleverage existing and cultivate relationships with new media, thought leaders and influencers to help build Dyson's reputation as an innovating engineering company focused on our customer's wellbeing. - As a Communications Manager you will be responsible for identifying emerging issues and opportunities facing the organization, and design strategies and new materials to manage their impact. - You will ensure a consistently high level of execution across all channels. - You- ll also oversee the monitoring, analysis and response to press coverage and social media interactions on a timely basis and across a wide spectrum of media - You will manage PR agencies and inspire them to tell inspiring stories on our behalf The Right Person - As a Communications Manager you will have a minimum of 10- 12 years of experience working in either an in-house function or working for a communications agency. - You will come with demonstrable experience in building relationships with top tier reporters and editors in India, and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placements. - As the Communications Manager you will have the ability to build and effect change at both a people and process level. You will be able to identify a problem and create an innovative solution. - You will have broad category or client experience and will have worked with a variety of products, brands or customers. - You will also be fluent in English (written and spoken). - You will be degree educated with a bachelor's degree or higher. - Excellent storytelling ability, brilliant interpersonal skills and robust commercial understanding. - Ability to inspire and manage teams, with varying complex challenges, spread across geographies and time zones. - Calm under pressure, resilient and with a track-record of good judgement, and an ability to get things done. - Unafraid to challenge, be challenged, and ask/answer difficult questions. - Willingness to admit when wrong and accept an alternative strategy. - Tenacity and persistence in pursing answers to problems and comfortable with change and ambiguity. - An ability to influence at the highest levels through clear, informed and logical argument and discussion, tempered by a sense of humour. - The utmost discretion: tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential issues and situations. - Fastidious in organisation and with vision and purposes as well as an eye for the detail.
