Director - Technology & Delivery (15-20 yrs)

A leading US based consulting, IT services, and innovative development company is looking for a Director of Technology & Delivery (DOD) in Addis Ababa_Ethiopia.

You will be responsible for comprehensive Delivery Experience by managing cross functionally to align Technology, Operations, Customer Service, and Supply Chain on a shared strategic roadmap from creation to execution. The right candidate will be responsible for supporting US based clients to develop world class software and able to assess what is most important for customers and our business, act boldly and lead change. You will provide clear business and technical requirements, partnering closely with Design, Engineering, Customer Service, and Transportation to deliver new features that delight our customers as part of a dynamic fast paced team. DOD will be Reporting directly to our VP of Global Delivery @HQ

What You'll Do:

- Develop a best-in-class Delivery Experience from checkout to customer receipt

- Own the Transportation delivery roadmap and goals, by building different delivery mechanisms for each of the different assortments/product types. Develop metrics and mechanisms to track to goals

- You will drive the client experience throughout the project lifecycle, taking our clients complex problems and providing a process to derive a solution vision through to data ingestion/modeling to productive business use of our solutions

What You'll Need:

- An solid understanding of technology in the areas of application development, mobile, IoT, & Data Science (a plus). Should have worked on projects in the these technologies

- An in-depth understanding of technology concepts covering clean architecture, solid principles, DevOps, and n-tiered environments

- Familiar with programming constructs & Data structure and Algorithms

- Good understanding of programming languages (Java, C#, Python, Nodejs, JavaScript, React etc.)

- Technology agnostic, with relevant experience on application development (Java & J2EE / .Net, in eCommerce or B2C Supply Chain Management building new Delivery Channels)

- Experience in application servers, middleware, EAI, API

- Experience in SOA (technical & governance)

- A good understanding of UI/UX development

- Ability to create and build teams and Center Of Excellence practices

- Agile & Hybrid development practices

- Strong process oriented knowledge

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills

- Strong people management skills

- 10+ years' experience in implementing best practices in offshore delivery in a distributed development environment.

- 10+ years experience in scaling offshore teams quickly to meet client project needs.

- 7+ years of experience in program, or project management within a fast-paced metrics-driven environment. At least 5 years of experience managing a team

- Working knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

- 5+ years of experience with detailed knowledge of data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools, and data visualization tools such as Db Visualizer and Tableau

- He will be the responsible of the Technical Leaders, the IT Project Managers assigned to projects and program. Through his team, the IT Program Delivery Manager will be responsible of the delivery of IT Initiatives and the IT Streams of business and regulatory projects.

He ensures that all the Phases of SDLC are respected and escalates and notify to the Head of Delivery in case of issues

This role is a key leader in the technology and overall business organization and through competency demonstration (skills, knowledge and experience) and behavior performance (orange code) assures the commitment on delivery dates, manages escalation in case of issues, supervises the external vendors with the support of service managers

- He will be the first point of contact with the Transformation Office team

- He ensures the alignment between Global and Local strategies

- He ensures compliance to minimum standards

- He must have a complete view on ongoing initiatives from the start phases

- Maintain a high-level, holistic vision of all development initiatives

- Define key initiatives, participates in the strategy for building key initiatives

- Understands Strategic themes and other key business drivers Communicates technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders

- Drives transformation projects and participates in analysis where applicable

- Influences common modeling, design and coding practices and facilitates the re-use of ideas, components, and proven patterns

- Collects, generates and analyzes innovative ideas and technologies that are applicable across the enterprise

- Represents the Delivery reference point during the release phases.
