JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Director Operations Start Date: 10-June- 2018 Location: Bhopal, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Indore, Ajmer Organization Profile: Why Education? Education gives children hope and it gives them the power to fulfill their dreams. Education opens new doors for children; it is necessary for children to turn their dreams into a reality. The sky is the limit for a well-educated child. In an ideal world, money should never come in the way of a child realizing her or his dreams. Unfortunately, the truth is far from this ideal. Numerous children do not get the education they deserve due to financial limitations. Good education is not always accessible to the underprivileged in our society. There is tremendous potential in children, all they need is access to good education. We provide access to high quality education to the most talented children who don- t have the necessary resources. About the Founders Our founders have been passionate about education as far back as they can remember. Both of them have directly experienced the transformative effects of education. Their families- lives have been changed over generations, all because of good education. One of them is a Physicist and a Computer Scientist with degrees from State University of New York (Binghamton) and Cornell University. She worked as a software engineer for many years, before deciding to devote her time to family and philanthropy. The other one has been with Google for over fifteen years (2000-2016). His family story is also that of education. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell. And after 15 years with Google, he decided to give back to his community through this foundation. Position Overview: This is a senior management position primarily responsible for leadership and assistance with the strategic and tactical execution on all work related to implementing of the education program. The Director Operations will oversee the implementation, coordination, reporting of our current and prospective work. The position will report directly to the Trustee. He/ She will supervise five city coordinators who are directly responsible for managing the schools. Frequent travel to all cities where the foundation is working will be required. Responsibilities: - Oversee execution and implementation of the schools at country level, their budgeting and internal controls as per the design created by the technical programs staff -&nbsp; Supervise, coach and mentor the city coordinators - Coordinate with the Trustee's with respect to expansion and development of the schools -&nbsp; Coordinate school plans and budget process, working closely with Finance Department. -&nbsp; Supervise annual planning and budgeting exercise and provide directions to the operations teams and other departments. -&nbsp; Conduct appraisals of the coordinators in coordination with the Trustee's to identify and ensure support for staff capacity building needs. -&nbsp; Visit the schools at least 80% of the time to support and supervise -&nbsp; As part of the Management Team, implement ideas that address program priorities in collaboration with the technical program staff, -&nbsp; Provide input into strategic and operational planning exercises - Ensure high quality, effective and efficient execution of programs and successful achievement of annual goals - Collaborate with the Programs, and coordinate with monitoring and evaluation (M&amp;E) team to support M&amp;E of all programs -&nbsp; Identify, track and document program trends, lessons learned and best practices and report to technical staff to consider in new program designs -&nbsp; Ensure that organizational, governmental and reports are provided on a timely basis - Explore shared-learning and networking opportunities. - Ensure that all MOUs are prepared / revised in timely manner. - Ensure government approval for all programs and ensure they are implemented directly or through partners. - Ensure all programs are implemented within the various guidelines established by the foundation, including those relating to human resources management, finance and regulatory compliance. - Ensure monthly and quarterly reports are submitted on time. - Represent the foundation at relevant meetings and assist in planning and hosting donor visits - Provide regular updates on program implementation and plans to the Trustee's - Participate in any other activities as required to fulfill the objectives of the organization Reporting and Documentation - Review and submit monthly progress reports and draw up action points to be followed up with program teams or other departments. - Work with various departments to ensure timely submission of all organizational, governmental and reports. - Act as the point person for all information requests - Work with the communications team to develop and print communication materials. - Provide regular updates on program Implementation and plans to the Trustee- s - Explore shared-learning and networking opportunities - External Coordination and Networking - Stay informed about trends in the fields of Education and use this information to assess and inform the program - Build partnerships with NGOs and other organizations with similar agenda, with the goal of becoming a key player in this community - Collaborates with the government to build support for the schools model, in general and the foundation approach in particular. Other - Participate in any other activities which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of the organization. - Represent the foundation at various platforms. Qualification &amp; Experience - Master's in education / social sciences / Social Work/management or equivalent - Minimum 8 years of relevant experience - Knowledge of various programs and organizations in the field of education. - Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills, including skills of managing and mentoring people - Good written and oral communication skills - Knowledge/ training in linguistics will be an added advantage To be successful as a member of the foundation, you will also: - Have passion for our mission and a strong desire to impact the children - Be an innovative and creative thinker that tries new things and inspires others to do so - Have a very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness - Have a strong work ethic and require minimal direction - Work well independently as well as part of a team - Thrive in a fast-paced and fun environment
