Role Summary

The Director, Software Engineering will oversee a variety of roles across our Development teams, including but not limited to application developers, QA testers and production support associates. These associates will drive the development & enhancement of a variety of applications that define the capabilities & features of our core products.

This is a leadership role for our Bangalore site, and this leader is expected to build and manage the capability for the engineering team being setup at Bangalore.

This role will be counted on to drive work in a variety of areas across the entire application stack that fuels our product capabilities, and work well across a number of stakeholders.

The ideal leader will have a very strong ability to build relationships to not only accomplish the current work with high standards, but be able to identify new opportunities for the India team to contribute by working closely with the peer leadership group in the US.

This leader will be expected to scale and grow the competency and team at Bangalore, drive the roadmap for evolving the Bangalore team and empower and guide the team through the software development lifecycle.

Leadership Accountabilities

(40%) - Strategic Leadership: Work well with US stakeholders to ensure production is on par with expectations. Help to build a roadmap of success at India as the team & work evolves in the near term.

(30%) - Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a team of associates focusing on driving quality improvements and business results, optimizing team efficiency and effectiveness, and advancing the team's growth and development.

(15%) - Performance & Quality Management: Establishes and maintains performance metrics across the Software Development Lifecycle. Develops and enforces strong practices, validates and manages testing teams for release and non- release deliverables. Responsible for ensuring teams meet the standards and deliverables for developers, manual and automated testing.

(15%) - Thought Leadership: Oversee the efforts to collect and analyze test results, identify trends in monitored activities, perform root cause analysis, share learnings and knowledge, and recommend process improvements as appropriate; critique the sampling processes to identify refinement opportunities; and provide visibility through reporting and actionable insight.

Person Profile

- BE or Masters in Engineering with at least 15 years experience. Product management / engineering experience is a MUST

- We are looking for a leader with a proven track record in designing, delivering & managing complex technology products involving front end design, development & testing. The ideal candidate will have:

- 17+ years of overall experience;

- Solid experience in an engineering/product development setup or application development

- Experience in working through various software development methodologies (both Agile & Waterfall)

- Strong background in financial or credit card processing

Other Skills

- Demonstrated leadership, decision making, strong ability to prioritize with keen attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of management.

- Accountable for results and capable of getting things accomplished through others and producing sustainable results, the ability to handle adversity.

- Clear communicator (written and verbal)

- Creative problem solving of technical problems.

- Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables - ensures the ability to find the bad defects and bugs quickly.

- Ability to form strong collaborative relationships with internal/external partners

- Ability to assess, evaluate and make decisions around policy, procedure and training

- Ability to drive and enforce change

- Thorough understanding of the credit, financial industry

- Attention to detail
