Director - Product Design - SaaS

Position Title: Director of Product Design Business Location: Mumbai

Reports to: Chief Product Officer Business Unit: Product team

POSITION SUMMARY Overall objectives and expectations:

We are seeking a leader for our Product Design team who has a passion for finding solutions that allow customers to intuitively use our products. The ideal candidate would be a visionary with team management skills and shall be skilled at each stage of the design process while always being focused on the needs of the customer.

You will work with other designers and cross-functional team members and will rely heavily on both qualitative and quantitative data to make informed decisions.

You must be skilled at translating the goal of the product into a functional user experience and nurturing that experience as the product matures through different stages of the product life cycle.

When leading - you lead by example, when setting the bar - you set it up high and make sure everything lives up to it. You think strategically and takes the responsibility of the overall outcome.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Specific activities required and results needed to excel

1. Define and execute upon a vision for design and user experience (UX) within our portfolio of products

2. Provide UX leadership using your experience with analytics, research, design methodologies and product launches

3. Work closely with development team, to ensure that new product development and your design direction blend efficiently

4.Lead and motivate a team of talented product designers by providing mentorship, coaching, regular feedback and career planning

5. Establish standards and KPIs, ensure adherence, assess quality, and maximize efficiency.

6. Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of Product Design team to ensure smooth progress

DIMENSIONS Size of the job (eg. Team Size, Financial control, span of control, geography, branches, customers, etc)

1. Manage a team of 8-10 designers

SELECTION CRITERIA :

ESSENTIAL :

1. Minimum 10 years hands-on experience of Product Design for a SaaS application, including visual design as well as user research and prototyping

2. A portfolio reflecting that experience, including shipped and currently in-market products, and demonstrating end-to-end design methodology

3. Mastery of design and prototyping tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud)

4. Experience using analytics, user research, user testing and other approaches to help make decisions and iterate on the product

5. Self-motivated, a good communicator with excellent attention to detail, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines

6. Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
