Director - Manufacturing Operations - FMCG/Plastic

Our client is a leading conglomerate in Nigeria, in the manufacturing Sector, with a leadership in Plastics, Packaging, FMCG and trading business. They are looking for a senior professional from the light engineering/packaging sector to head the manufacturing of their multiple manufacturing units spread across Nigeria.

- They are expecting the incumbent to Direct and manage operations of multiple manufacturing facilities.

- Demonstrate and leads the business in the key Initiative areas of Safety/EHS, Operational Excellence, Expense Reduction, and Technology & Innovation.

- Lead deployment of Operational Excellence, including lean manufacturing and safety, quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.

- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.

- Lead cross-functional teams that are responsible for meeting customer requirements/service.

- Manage manufacturing needs for capital investments and improvement projects.

- Spearheading the implementation and execution of operational processes and improvements while communicating clearly defined objectives and gaining acceptance of those objectives.

- Provides a high level of technical expertise in state-of-the art manufacturing techniques and technology.

- Ensures that purchasing initiatives are coordinated and optimized, particularly as it relates to raw material sourcing, and supply chain is streamlined on a worldwide basis.

- Ensures cost control and productivity management.

- Coordinates and assists in the introduction of new products and/or technology.

- Provides operational control over global operations and P&L responsibility.

- Keeps current with latest technological and new product development in Research and Development and evaluates their introduction into plants.

- Responsible for achievement of Operational Excellence.

- Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as Kaizen, JIT, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Desired Candidate Profile

- A bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering from Universities of repute and prior work experience in Africa is a must.

- An MBA is a plus.

- A minimum of 15 years experience overseeing multiple manufacturing operations in light engineering/ packaging / FMCG /plastic industry including overall site responsibility is a must.

- Experience must include manufacturing industry experience particularly from light engineering, plastics or FMCG sector.
