Director - Legal - FMCG/Real Estate (10-15 yrs)

Position : Director Legal

Location : MUMBAI

Age : Not more then 50 years

CTC : Atleast 40L and above

Director - Legal job responsibilities would include but not be limited to :

What you will need?

- Good understanding of Indian law and practices (including intellectual property, commercial, e-commerce, FDI regulations, privacy laws, consumer protection laws, legal metrology and FSSAI laws).

- The candidate should have strong communication skills, an enthusiastic and reliable worker, show keen interest to understand business and manage quick turnaround times.

- 10-15 years of experience in and related business advisory work

- Good organizational and interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced dynamic business environment.

- Enable business without compromising on the process.

- Ability to multitask.

- Good team player with a collaborative approach in completing assignments.

- Meticulous and punctual.

- Leverage business understanding / functional expertise to deliver value to stakeholders

- Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management. Participates in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provides continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all matters.

- Sets internal governance policies and manages the impact of external factors. Assumes ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable legal bodies of the country.

- Evaluates and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action - Judges the merits of major court cases filed against or on behalf of the company, works with the appropriate executive(s) to define a strategic defense and approves settlements of disputes where warranted.

- Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically. Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks

- Bases decision making process on high standards of ethics and integrity.

- Deals with external parties (regulators, external counsel, government, politicians, clients)

- Drafts agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights

- Deals with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas

- Proactively keeps abreast of legislative changes and it's impact on Company's business.

- Serves as key lawyer/legal advisor on all major business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures.

- Structures and manages the company's internal legal function and staff 


- Oversees the selection, retention, management and evaluation of all outside counsel.

Key attributes of our Legal Head :

- Functional Capability : Proven Legal Heading experience in business environment

- Working knowledge & deep experience in practice & application of the law (Global & Indian corporate law, litigations, labor law, etc). In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect Organizations. (Past experience of leading the legal function and/or direct report of the head of legal function or Management for a multi-billion-dollar organization.)

- Impactful : They have gravitas, creating impact through discussion, debate and action, using narrative to ensure that their point of view is understood and heard.

- Influencing : They have to earn respect, communication capability that gets them heard in honest and difficult conversations, and where their personality and character are strengths.

- Inspiring : They build trust and respect across the organisation, harnessing the skills of everyone to work together to deliver long-term value to the business.

- Innovative : They explore innovative ways to lead and navigate business growth, manage the associated risks and complexities of driving a startup through its growth phases.

Requirement :

i) Bachelor's/Master's degree of law from a reputed university

ii) 10 to 12 years of experience in legal work, preferably Food & Beverages or Manufacturing

iii) Knowledge of real estate law is a added advantage
