Director/Head - Internal Audit - Investment Bank (15-20 yrs)

Key Accountabilities

- Collaborate and support the FTT (Functions - Finance, Treasury, Tax ) Global Portfolio Manager in defining and executing the COMPANY India Offshore FTT coverage strategy and audit plan for the team, taking into consideration current regulatory requirements, cyclical coverage and the resourcing levels within the team. Share the coverage strategy with the lead regulators, senior Finance, Risk & Audit Management and the Board Audit Committee, as required.

- As audit owner, we expect this individual to take full accountability for audits over COMPANY India Functions and Risk audits and will be the person issuing the audit reports to the account executives.

- Contribute to concise and insightful committee reporting, audit reporting and propose pragmatic remediation actions, relevant to the issues raised by COMPANY.

- Attend relevant forums/committees across Company as an independent observer from COMPANY. Provide constructive challenge to senior management at such forums/committees.

- Share knowledge with others across the team and function. Mentor and coach other team members, and provide constructive, open and timely feedback to support their personal and career development.

- Strive to empower others to deliver on time and bring efficiency and enhanced quality to audit processes.

- Develop and drive innovative new ideas and practices to enhance the department's impact and productivity.

- Build senior stakeholder relationships within Finance at the Group and Business Unit level.

- Work collaboratively with the 1st and 2nd Lines of Defence to improve the control environment.

- Partner with other COMPANY Business Unit and Functional teams in providing a robust coverage in Finance.

- Be seen as a trusted advisor and SME within COMPANY.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

- Lead discussions with business management regarding audit observations and concerns, consult with relevant COMPANY colleagues, where applicable.

- Play a proactive role in supporting the definition of risk profiles, work effectively with colleagues across COMPANY to ensure the COMPANY audit plan maximise resources.

- Continually build long-term, quality independent relationships with a wide network of colleagues and external parties (e.g. regulators and external audit) and be seen as a respected voice.

- Produce concise and insightful commentary and information for COMPANY wide reporting.

- Deputise for others within COMPANY, as required at relevant control committee or forums within India.

- Inspire and engage others to believe in the COMPANY vision. Demonstrate leadership behaviors, skills and capabilities as outlined in the COMPANY competency framework, and Company Leadership framework.

- Work collaboratively to drive progress in the team, embedding the quality performance culture, development of new skills and role modelling of Company values and behaviours.

- Mentor and coach others to be open, honest and reliable, provide constructive, open and timely feedback to support personal and career development of others to achieve their full potential.

- Identify and develop talent and develop succession plans. Attract and retain the best people through taking part in activities inside and outside the organization.

- Share knowledge with others across team/function and promotes a culture of learning from mistakes.

- Assign audit and line management responsibilities, direction and guidance to direct reports while maintaining an in-depth knowledge of activities in each area.

- Seek to increase all aspects of diversity in their area through the decisions they make and the attitudes they promote, challenging the attitudes of others were necessary.

Essential Skills:

- Have experience of leading multi-location teams.

- Extensive technical knowledge required to audit sophisticated Product Control and Finance areas.

- Technical knowledge required to audit qualitative (Operational Risk) and quantitative (Market, Credit, Model, and Treasury and Capital Risk) risk areas.

- Have a firm grasp of a typical Investment Banking business model, understand how an Investment Bank (and its sub-businesses) make money and the principal/key risk impact of these businesses.

- Have extensive audit experience, which includes executing audits from beginning to end.

- Team player with excellent communication skills and ability to apply these skills to a range of audiences in a variety of circumstances, for example, senior technical specialists and senior non-technical individuals.

- Highly rational & logical thought process with a strong attention to detail and understanding of end-to-end Finance processes.

- Strong understanding of the evolving regulatory environment and its challenges.

- Proven track record of senior stakeholder management and regulators.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

- Professional qualifications (e.g. ACA, CPA, CFA, CIA, MIIA, ACCA, CISA, for audit roles or graduate degree).

- Proven track record of high performance in previous roles to include senior stakeholder interaction.

- Display willingness and initiative to learn and share knowledge.

- Previous experience working in a Product Control and Finance functions.

- Previous experience working in a Risk function.
