Job Title: Director Engineering – Networking R&D (Location: Chennai)

Reporting into: Site Head – Chennai Development Center

Scope

- Manages the planning, development, and testing of network systems to align with current and future business requirements. Develops, maintains, and communicates project plans and schedules, prioritizes requirements, and coordinates teams.

- Ensures all software and hardware products are interoperable and compatible with network standards. Identifies, evaluates and resolves business issues. Manages budgets. Works on abstract problems across all functional areas.

- Provides direction and guidance for operations, administration and results for a major department or multiple departments within a function or work area.

- Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning.

- Collaborates with subordinate leadership to set strategy and business objectives.

- May influence the strategic and/or long-term focus for the function.

- Provides leadership and direction through lower- level managers.

- Implements tactical and strategic change through subordinate managers.

- Work is guided by functional strategy.

- Establishes operational objectives for managers and/or teams of professionals across the sub- function.

- Implements policies and defines approach to strategy achievement for area managed.

- Decisions may impact overall business, but are mainly related to the department or work area.

- Provides authoritative advice to top management based on deep subject matter expertise.

- Accountable for related performance objectives.

- Initiates integrated business plans based on senior leadership strategy

Skills and Requirements

- Solid understanding of network design and implementation in enterprise and data center environments

- Thorough comprehension of networking concepts including network design principles, data flow determination, routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, spanning-tree, etc.

- Deep understanding of advanced networking technologies and solutions in some of the areas like IPV6, MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, multicast, policy-based routing, ether-channel, QoS, traffic-shaping, load balancing, WAN Optimization, etc.

Experience:

- Minimum of 16 to 20 years in Software development & 6 to 8 years in managerial cadre

Education: Phd/MS/M-Tec/B-Tech/BE – Computer science & Engineering & MBA
