Director - Engineering - Consumer Internet

Key Responsibilities :

- Drive the technology strategy & direction as part of the company's core leadership team

- Scale the product to support tens of millions of active users whilst delivering a millisecond response time for critical services

- Lead the technology team throughout the product development lifecycle and be responsible for on- time, high quality and within budget delivery.

- Lead by example and build a culture of innovation by actively participating in architecture and design.

- Be a tech evangelist and drive adherence to best practices and coding / architectural guidelines.

- Work closely with product, sales, marketing & support teams to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met

- Be closely involved in defining the product offering (Internet and Mobile), requirements gathering, change management, project management, customer experience and engineering operations

- Constantly investigate emerging technologies & techniques, research ongoing industry trends, make appropriate recommendations to the management for enhancements

- Drive definition and delivery for various product releases by working closely with the engineering and cross-functional teams

- Demonstrate a high bar in sourcing, hiring and managing a world-- class software development team

- Provide leadership, vision and focus to deeply technical and very bright engineers and architects

Qualification : Engineering degree from premier Institutes

Work Experience : Overall 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least the last 3+ years in a role Engineering Manager/Sr Engineering Manager at a leading consumer internet company.

Skills :

- Strong technical & product background with the ability to expand and lead a team of strong software engineers

- Strong experience in distributed systems and microservices architecture including exposure to technologies like Java, Springboot, Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, Elastic Search, MySQL, ELK etc.

- Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment

- Experience with object-oriented design and design patterns

- Experience across the full product lifecycle including design, development, testing and deployment

- Must demonstrate strong business capabilities and a passion to drive customer satisfaction

- Strong project management experience defining tasks, allocating tasks, work breakdown structure, planning resource requirements and project timelines

- Strong team player with an energetic, pleasant personality; ability to work at a cross functional level and be comfortable with board level interaction
