Director of Engineering (Battery HW Engineering)

Location : Bangalore

Exp : 15+

Qualification : B.E / B.Tech

Key responsibilities include :

- Manage 15+ people under engineering functions for Energy Storage HW design and testing.

- Focal point to the management in reporting day to day and weekly status of the group activities.

- Participate in early-stage product development and communicate expectations and ensure the successful capture of Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Test, Installation & Service requirements.

- Ability to develop schedules for new product development from concept to launch, set milestones, assess & mitigate risks, develop action plans, coordinate activities and drive results within cross-functional teams.

- Conduct regular project status meetings with project team and relevant stakeholders to communicate and coordinate activities.

- Deliver new products on-time, within budget, and at expected quality and reliability levels.

- Serve as the central technical leader for cross functional teams including mechanical engineering, hardware engineering, firmware engineering, and cloud/mobile software, quality, manufacturing and supply chain/operations.

- Develop team members to operate independently to improve overall group efficiency.

- Facilitate initial build plans, drive material readiness with supply chain and evaluate constraints.

- Collaborate with the cross-functional Engineering teams to solve technical problems and provide rapid prototyping support.

- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to develop efficient methods for assembling and testing products.

- Assist in the hiring and management of cross-functional team members.

Minimum Qualifications :

- 15+ years of experience or more in New Product Development (NPD) roles

- Desire a candidate with deep experience in storage solution development

- In-depth experience in developing electronic products from concept to launch

- In-depth knowledge of electrical circuits that includes one or more of the following: RF circuits, digital circuits, analog circuits, control circuits, switching, power management, battery management

- In-depth understanding of system architecture and system design principles

- Familiarity and experience with UL certification standards for electric consumer products (UL1741/IEEE1547, UL1973, UL9540A, UL2743, IEC62109, VDE/CEI-021, etc.)

- Familiarity with mechanical engineering design, tool development, injection molding, and sheet metal parts manufacturing

- In-depth knowledge of NPD processes

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills

- Strong team worker within multi-discipline and multi-cultural environments

- Capable of clear, accurate and timely communication both written and verbal

Desired experience - the following will be an advantage :

- Understanding of solar, energy storage, micro-grid and renewable energy systems

- Experience in Inverter, UPS, Power Electronic circuits design and troubleshooting.

- Hands-on Experience in handling the lab Electronic equipment.

- Knowledge in Lithium-Ion based Energy storage systems, Battery management system.

- Experience in grid-tied inverter validation and advanced grid profile functions.
