Director of Clinical Audit

Job Specifications: Should be minimum postgraduate in medicine with 15-20 years of clinical experience and should have handled clinical audits in a large multi specialty hospital.

Job Description:

- Reports to Chief Executive

- Develop and implement the clinical audit programmes for the organization and clinical services and professions.

- Develop the work programmes related to clinical audit and support implementation of approved clinical audit policies and work programmes.

- Disseminate to groups or individuals details of the clinical audit to be undertaken as part of the Annual Clinical Audit Programme and work collaboratively and in partnership with clinical services to design audits, ensure they are carried out effectively, including that appropriate action is taken to achieve any improvements needed.

- Ensures that findings of such audits are acted upon.

- Oversee the collection and analysis of data, interprets findings, prepares reports participate in the presentation of findings.

- Contribute to organizational dissemination of findings and actions taken.

- Advise on ethical issues relating to clinical audit design and subsequent findings

- Design, deliver, review and evaluate appropriate training and education programmes for staff to equip them with audit skills, tools and techniques, to raise awareness of the purpose and quality improvement benefits of clinical audit, educate staff in best practice for clinical audit, quality improvement and clinical governance.

- Prepare relevant and informative reports on clinical audit performance in the organization.

- Ensure the maintenance of the register of clinical audits including evidence of improvements achieved through the clinical audits.

- Prepare informative and reports on clinical audit performance for Trust Board.

- Work with frontline staff to integrate clinical audit into daily clinical practice and maintain effective internal partnerships and external networks.

- Contributes to involving patients or service users in the clinical audit process in the organization in relevant and useful ways.

- Ensures that effective clinical audit supports the Governance agenda for the organization.

- Attends meeting and events on behalf of the Governance team within or outside the organization.

- Leads the development and documentation of systems and processes used by the staff working in the clinical audit service

- Contributes to identifying and managing risk, including contributing to assessing risk, taking appropriate actions and reporting all incidents, near misses and hazards.
