Director - Business Development & Knowledge Management - Legal Firm (9-10 yrs)

- Create, update and maintain the database of existing clients and take regular feedback from JC colleagues about the work flow;

- Ensure that JC colleagues are meeting these existing key clients and new potential clients

- Ensure that regular knowledge updates, deal alerts are sent to the existing clients;

- Identify new practice areas, new clients and assist JC colleagues to start the practice area and set up meetings with the new clients;

- Coordinate and prepare info-kits for JC colleagues for business development trips/meetings;

- Identifying merit-based speaking opportunities for the JC colleagues of the firm at various national and international conferences;

- Setup and coordinate media appearance for JC colleagues;

- Initiate other steps to ensure that the firm and JC colleagues get media coverage;

- Ensure practice profiles, credentials, individual profiles and local consultants database are in place up to date;

- Ensuring that periodic submissions for awards, rankings and league tables are made in a timely and optimal manner to measure the firm's position;

- Managing the business development budget including its approval and implementation and maximizing the benefit to the firm;

- Updating & analyzing of meeting trackers & event trackers and making a recommendation to ensure maximization of value for the firm;

- Internal and external coordination and follow up with teams for event organization like seminars, organizing marketing collaterals, creating proposals, presentations, etc.

- Preparation of reporting formats to senior management, stakeholders and partners and ensuring that such reports are regularly submitted and understood by recipients

Role Description - Knowledge Management

JC treat Knowledge Management as an integral part of Business Development as a legal industry is a part of the knowledge industry. Therefore, the expectation is that a person understands the framework of the legal industry. You will be responsible for the dissemination of legal knowledge within the firm. The primary aim of this role is to ensure dissemination knowledge to lawyers and innovate mechanisms that increase the efficiency of the firm. Under this your work profile, inter alia, will include:

- Getting JC database updated with the legal knowledge, market information and sharing the information on a regular basis to the JC colleagues;

- Creating, maintaining, managing and executing the legal knowledge management strategy;

- Collaborating with other support departments and designing and implementing the firm's document management systems;

- Facilitation/ Managing the creation & use of templates, alerts, notes on legal updates to increase the efficiency of JC colleagues and effective Business Development;

- Manage and maintain annual subscription of books, journals, etc.;

- Adapting to the tools / IT softwares that are in place for knowledge management and liaise with IT team and JC colleagues for updating the same;

- Overseeing memberships and subscription to various relevant forums of knowledge management and extracting maximum benefits; and

- Train attorneys to use knowledge management tools and inculcate the habit of knowledge sharing.

- To assist Team Heads on planning, forecasting and achieve their annual targets and also to keep a track of the progress in a periodic manner.

The area below will form the basis of measurement of success:

Business development:

- Financial performance of the firm including Profit Margins, Growth in profit, receivables collection and cost management;

Client satisfaction;

- Effective management of the business development budget;

- Success and participation in JC events;

- Efficiency FYI sent to clients;

- Any other indicators suggested by the management.

Knowledge Management :

- Feedback of senior JC colleagues on knowledge sharing and knowledge management;

- Database and usage of the firm on templates, notes, legal updates;

- Any other indicators suggested by the management.
