Job Title : Manager - Brand Protection

Location : Bangalore

- Reporting to Senior General Manager - Brand Protection & Corporate Security

Experience : 3-8 years experience in a role involving Anti - Counterfeit management

- Experiences in sales, marketing, supply chain or external affairs, Legal, Brand Protection, Intellectual Property Law

- Previous role in anti-counterfeit mitigation is an advantage Knowledge and Skills

- Strong planning and analyzing skills

- Experience in budgeting and/or financial planning

- Team player with strong interpersonal, teambuilding and communication skills, capable of functioning independently within the cross-cultural work atmosphere

- Excellent communication skills, Good command of English and Hindi essential, both written and spoken with analytical and investigative skills

- Communication and negotiation

AntiCounterfeit Infrastructure :

- Complete strategy management on leads received from business for counterfeited products/any kind of unauthorized use of our brands (including but not limited to discussion with concerned teams, mapping expectations and issues, scale of problem, impact analysis, investigation plan, enforcement action and closure of the case)

- Monitor reports and activities undertaken by IFSP to conduct anti-substitution surveys, market inspections and enforcement actions in select jurisdictions. Advise IFSP on strategy to be adopted for such surveys and also confirming the brands and outlets to be covered. Advise IFSP on post survey action on infringing outlets.

- Develop Internal intelligence gathering and accordingly conduct investigations on the basis of intelligence obtained from internal stakeholders via awareness generation amongst them for counterfeits

- Engage in conducting/organizing trainings for internal stakeholders to educate them about counterfeit products and make them a part of intelligence adherence network to fight against counterfeits

- Involve, engage and protect our products by end to end product security management as per the risk matrix of counterfeit activities happening against a particular brand. This involves coordinating and working closely with the brand change team for new-anti counterfeit technology to be adopted for such a brand and conducting due diligence/review of the supply chain security management of the brand involved.

- Lead and conduct enforcement action strategy on identified targets depending on parameters of jurisdiction, enforcement authority, ROI and NSV of brand involved

- Work closely/tandem with the Legal and IP team members for final strategy to be adopted against the infringing party for specific stakeholders/expectation of stakeholders

Stakeholder Engagement :

- Engage with Government authorities for pushing our anti-counterfeit agenda including but not limited to conducting enforcement actions, creating awareness about issues faced by counterfeits, strengthening the legal provisions in concerned Excise legislations.

- Impart/organize training/s and awareness programs to Government authorities to distinguish between counterfeits and originals and how to deal with cases related to counterfeit products

- Impart/organize training/s to internal stakeholders (primarily commercial teams) to help them distinguish between counterfeits and originals and also how to report about such issues to the BP team

- Collaborate and partner with FICCI-BASCAP, CII, ISWAI, CIABC for Industry anticounterfeiting initiatives

- Monitor and ensure that all relevant stakeholder concerns/issues have been taken into account and accordingly addressed (includes external as well as internal stakeholders)

- Responsible for creation of a task force known as Brand Protection Working Group (within the company) comprising of various internal stakeholders i.e., commercial, finance, corporate relations, brand change etc., for driving and approving the larger agendas of the BP team

Vendor Compliance Responsibilities :

- Arrange and coordinate for COBC training of Service Provider/s with the legal team

- Conduct product trainings (to distinguish between counterfeit and originals) for service providers

- Ensure all the Service providers know about our Code and understand how to conduct business in a ethical manner a(along with relevant material/documents with respect to compliance requirements of the Company)

Public Policy Advocacy :

- Partnering with Govt relations for Public Policy interventions highlighting best practice of legal provisions with respect to counterfeits and illicit in each jurisdiction to influence such changes in the local provisions

- Prepare white papers for circulation/spreading awareness of best practices to tackle the issue of counterfeits/illicit liquor in various jurisdictions

Business Continuity Management Process :

- Drive the BCM program as per the global BCM standards

- Build capability within market by identifying BCM champions and imparting trainings

- Establishing the CMT and ensuring the timely conduct of annual exercises

- Ensuring BCM documentations at regional, national and site levels for better preparedness in case of any eventualities

- Building confidence among leadership and stakeholders to handle crisis using internal FACTS process

Corporate Security (People Security) :

- Develop security procedures across Diageo India and recommend appropriate policies. Maintain up to date knowledge of threat assessments to property, assets and personnel.

- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for market on corporate security.

- Develop framework for security training, awareness and technical security systems on all sites.

- Explore network and professional partners to gather intelligence and issue timely advisories

- Embed travel security process

- Leverage technology to enable simplification of process

- Planning and conceptualizing employee engagement initiatives

Corporate Security (Physical Security) :

- In collaboration with the organization's stakeholders, develops a security strategy keyed to likely risks.

- Provides technical expertise appropriate to knowledge of risk and cost-effective delivery of essential security services.

- Advise on the security design, controls, process including security clearances for new premises

- Guide stakeholders and leadership to conduct safe and secure Diageo events

- Participate/network in events to learn best practices & bring ideas for further development.

Investigations :


- Coach and support Investigators, Case Managers and external investigators to ensure cases are managed as per the global breach management standard.

- Leverage the support of the Regional stakeholders where required

- Stay updated on regulatory developments or changes which could impact USL.

- Leverage best practices developed based on learnings and issues faced by other peer companies for internal implementation.

- Explore network of professional investigating partners for complex investigations requiring advanced technological support

- Train internal investigators and build investigative capabilities

- Operate with credibility at senior levels of the organization promoting corporate security, Business continuity and Investigation programme

- Develop the capabilities within market to drive stakeholders to enable them to meet the corporate security deliverables

- Aids competitiveness and adds value by enabling the organization to safely engage in business process in higher risk situations.

- Be a positive change agent on behalf of the organizational protection.

- Provides intellectual leadership and active support to the stakeholders to ensure risks are made known to senior management.
