Looking for a DGM- General & Legal Compliance (L.L.B/ L.L.M) from Retail industry/ Legal/ Solicitor firm for an Indian Department Store Chain who are into clothing, accessories, handbags, shoes, jewelry, fragrances, cosmetics, health and beauty products, home furnishing, and decor products and are based out of Delhi.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Monitoring compliance by the Company of laws in its day to day operations (Labor Laws, Legal Metrology, Shops and Establishment Act, Trade Licenses, etc.). Updating the relevant stakeholders on the changes in laws and their impact. Ensuring that the relevant department is made aware of the legal implications of their actions and constant liaising with departments to ensure that the legal aspects are being complied with.

- Liaising with the government departments for licenses, registrations and queries / notices received.

- Drafting, negotiating and vetting of agreements with Vendors in respect of trade supplies, services, projects, finance, administration, IT, etc.

- Preparation of complaints, notices, petitions (criminal, consumer, summary suit), etc. and filing the same with relevant judicial authorities and complying with the procedural requirements thereafter

- Addressing and addressing queries related to various areas of Law such as Civil and Criminal Law, Consumer Law, Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law, Property Law, Tax, Labor laws, Information Technology Act, Privacy Laws

- Evaluation, Monitoring, Progress and Review of pending cases and providing guidance/directions for quick disposal.

- Ensure Database management of Litigations, Notices and Agreements; and on a quarterly basis present a daily updated legal cases review to the management.

- Protecting the Intellectual Property of the Company.

- Representing the company before various Courts and Tribunals as and when required.

- Hiring appropriate senior counsels for the company as a briefing counsel and ensuring full coordination in the matters in the best interests of the company.

- Issuing legal notices on behalf of the organization and responding to legal notices received by the organization from various parties.
