Job Type : Regular (initial 6 Months Probation)

Location : New Delhi HQ (with 30-40% travel per month)

Experience : 5-9 Years

Must Have : Minimum 5 years experience in planning and policy. Of which 3-4 years of experience should be related to climate change adaptation, climate finance and mitigation.

Highly Desirable Experience in MSMEs, green economy, sustainable development, SDGs, NDCs, GCF and other international climate policy processes related projects will be virtuous

Reporting to : Vertical Lead - Planning & Policy, Also closely working with Vice President

About the Vertical :

- Based in New Delhi, India, Planning and Policy Domain (PPD) of DA Group has a mandate to influence and support public policy in the transition towards sustainable development by connecting practice with policy. It develops innovative policy and practice oriented research to guide policymakers and domestic/ international leaders, who develop high-impact policies that will address our national/ worldwide most pressing Natural Resource Management/ Climate change related challenges.


- Our focus areas are Sustainable Consumption & Production (water, green building material and waste management), Climate Change Resilience (Climate Change Adaptation : water/Agriculture, Climate Finance & SDG-CC Inter Linkages) AND Inclusive Development (Agriculture and FPOs, Access to Housing, Eco-Tourism, Green MSMEs and Jobs, Equity and Res. Efficiency)

Job Description : 

Through this advertisement, DA Group is looking for an anchor in Climate Change resilience, Climate Adaptation, Climate Finance & Green Economy sector who will lead an ambitious effort to advance the organization's agenda by disseminating our work and message to a wide variety of stakeholders nationwide, including researchers, policymakers, practitioners, institutions of higher education.

The profile is looking for an anchor who will lead the team on two thematic areas:

1. Climate Finance/SDG financing, financing of green economy and MSMEs

2. Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) and Resource Efficiency

This will involve :

1. Research and analysis on state of MSMEs and their current contribution to economy, mapping potentials of expanding their footprint Also ; Analyze (a) the roles that different types of public/private finance can play in supporting the climate change objectives (b) how countries can most effectively mobilize relevant forms of public/private finance to play an important role in the transition to low carbon development and adaptation

2. Communication and policy advocacy on issues of MSMEs, green economy, resource efficiency and SDGs : Explain the role of climate finance strictly as a means to an end, not as an end in itself, with climate finance potentially serving as a basis for generating co-benefits across various SDGs and achieving goals of recovery and resilience in crisis contexts.

3. Business Development - Networking, Writing proposals & Concept notes on the same theme

4. Lead projects on Sustainable Consumption and Production as well as related to Resource Efficiency

5. Developing reports pertaining to climate finance and green financing projects

Desirable Attributes :

- Knowledge and expertise on latest developments in climate finance and energy, covering private sector and financial actors, innovations in business models and financial products;

- Contribute to strategic internal and external policy position papers, business plans, communication products and internal briefing notes.

- Identify and support new and existing programming and partnership opportunities and initiatives. Existing initiatives can include, but are not limited to: SDG Impact, the Climate Investment Platform, and collaborations on financial instruments. Partners can include, but are not limited to: multilateral development banks, vertical funds, bilateral donors, and the private sector (corporate, investors).

- Practical experience at the national and/or international level in providing technical and policy advisory services in CSR, circular economy concepts, materials and resource management and efficiency including waste management is required

Desired Skills :

Technical Skills : Experienced in technical report writing and presentation. Good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), excellent editing & presentation skills, Functional knowledge of GIS would be desirable.

Organizational Skills :

- Good knowledge of climate finance, resource efficiency and circular economy concepts, the concept of sustainability and sustainable development in the region and developing countries

- Ability to quickly grasp and synthesize inputs from a range of disciplines related to resource efficiency and circular economy concepts

- Ability to advocate and provide technical advice on the relevant sector/theme

- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision

- Promotes a knowledge sharing and learning culture in the office

- Sensitivity to and responsiveness to all partners, respectful and helpful relations with all DA staff

- Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude

- Remains calm, in control and good humored even under pressure

- Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage.

- Ability to perform tasks in timely manner and under pressure, to tight deadlines.
