Fund Accounting - Indian Market

Job Description Summary:

Location - Mumbai (Goregaon), India

The Fund Accounting Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day accounting for a group of assigned funds including, calculating/reporting the periodic NAV (Net Asset Value), and compiling standard weekly and/or monthly financial statements, and income and expense accruals and perform the required reconciliations. They will work with fund managers and other relevant stakeholders (both internal and external) to provide accounting specific support and analysis. The Fund Accounting Specialist may also liaise with internal and/or external service providers with respect to various aspects of fund administration e.g. subscriptions, redemptions, distributions and payments of fund expenses. Where relevant, they may also provide subject matter expertise on tax related matters and requests for information.

Justification:

Role :

- The role requires the resource to perform critical tasks such as daily pricing of various instruments like Equities/Bonds/Derivatives/Fx etc, processing of Corporate Action, setting up securities, trade processing, NAV calculation, Regulatory Reporting, Client Reporting, Reconciliations, etc. Fund Accounting/Administration is a specialized back-office outsourcing service where Asset Managers and Owners such as Mutual Funds, Insurance Unit Linked Funds, Pension Funds, Alternative Investment Funds, PMS/Discretionary Portfolio Managers, etc. appoint Custodian banks like Deutsche Bank to handle the accounting & valuation of their portfolios/funds and other middle and back-office services.

- In situation of non approval / replacement for the role, could further lead to potential client and reputational impact with delay in producing the desired output

Background (total need and tasks) :

- It's not just deliverables as per signed SLA / Agreement, clients do look forward to expert advices on valuations, accounting, reporting, regulatory matters etc. from our team as value added services.

Vaishali is responsible for managing a couple of Alternative Investment Fund clients - Axis & IIFL AIF. They have a variety of funds which includes Category II and III, open and close ended funds. They have very aggressive plans for growth with similar expectations from the service partners to scale up their service offerings and technology platform. Considering the nature of activities, complexities requiring analytical skills and thorough accounting knowledge, we need experienced resource to manage the tier one clients.

How many budget was planned for it ? Approx. 2,166 Euro per month

Why Perm and not CWR- Need specialized person with certain skillset which cannot be filled up with CWR.

Your key responsibilities:

- Managing a team of 7-8 people responsible for a particular function

- Handling allotted set of 3-4 clients independently, understanding their day-to-day processes and reporting requirements

- Managing ad-hoc data or report requirements from client, Regulator, etc with strict adherence to quality standards and expected delivery timelines

- Computation and reconciliation of NAV, checking income accruals, NAV validation and analysis, etc

- Reviewing Bank and Holding reconciliations and resolving breaks, if any

- Processing and verification of all trades for the day processed in the system

- Valuation / pricing of securities

- Coordination with client for trades.

- Coordinate with Registrars for Unit Capital files and checking and processing the same in the system

- Monitoring the email instructions for trades and other instructions including Custody instructions.

- Computation of Income equalization and distributable surplus

- Computation and Dissemination NAV to the Press, Registrar, etc.

- Trial Balance Scrutiny

- Audit co-ordination and finalization of accounts

Your skills and experience:

- Knowledge of Mutual Fund Accounting and operations

- Understanding of capital / Financial / derivative market

- Understanding of various valuation tools and methodology
