Deputy Manager/Manager - Corporate Planning - Consulting Firm (5-10 yrs)
Support the management in strategic decision making by providing research, analysis, and insights in the areas of evaluating strategic entry opportunities for growth, formulating business strategies, driving cost management initiatives, coordinating excellence program etc.
Specifically, this execution focused role is responsible to :
- Support/ lead a project team for timely delivery of projects with high quality deliverables with focus on background research, analysis and presentation, managing administration and coordination aspects of the project
- Support/lead in conceptualization of new methodologies/ tools/ models to design a holistic solution for the project
Reporting to : General Manager - Corporate Planning who reports to Vice Chairman and MD
Mandatory skills :
- Adept with advanced applications of MS-Excel/ Spreadsheets
- Superior presentations making skills in PowerPoint

- Market sizing & opportunity analysis, competition analysis, assessing business models/value chain dynamics
- Evaluating a business case (Go/No-Go) for new business
- Financial modelling

Key Deliverables :
1. Strives to quickly gain an understanding of structure of the organization, nature of business(es) and related value chains
Project Planning and Design :
2. Understands and maps in detail the scope of projects and key expectations (desired outcome and what value it will add to the business)
3. Develops clear approach (research methodology, sources of information, timelines)
Project Execution :
4. Undertakes methodical market research (primary and secondary) to gather detailed, validated information on markets trends, opportunity, customers, competitors, suppliers etc.
5. Analyses the gathered information by application of strategic frameworks/tools (e.g. Porter's five forces, VRIO, SWOT etc.) to derive relevant insights
6. Performs advanced quantitative data (statistical/ econometric) analysis (MS-Excel and other software packages)
7. Delivers the insights via effective presentations (concise, backed up with logic/data)
Project Coordination :
8. Works independently, in-team or cross functionally to achieve the above
9. Works with external agencies (detailing scope, evaluating proposals, reviewing progress, evaluating delivered output/insights) to execute the projects, if required
Key Challenges :
- Working around gaps/challenges in information availability
- Simultaneously working on 2-3 projects and prioritising daily tasks/deliverables
- Aligning multiple functions/stakeholders to overall strategic goals/direction (in case of coordination of corporate programs)
Mainly office based, but need to travel as per requirement
