The mandate is to work towards world-class capability in Marketing and to grow the brands globally (realisation, share & equity). Although businesses have experienced marketing skills to take this on, this skill is not consistent across the groups. Hence there is a need for a central role to support and lead the business to on one hand garner resources and on the other to build strong partnerships and links with various marketing organizations to drive brand excellence. Creativity, speed of response, a strategic mindset and a love of working in fairly open roles with an aspect of unstructured and structured at the same time will be critical to succeed.

Job Challenges:

1. Ability to understand branding solutions needed across different businesses

2. Partnering businesses to then translate using best practices of the brand planning and creating winning propositions

3. Supporting interactions with creative and marketing consultants for the businesses and group functions

4. Supporting the initiative to drive marketing excellence through best in class marketing teams best suited to help the group raise the standards of marketing excellence

- Businesses especially where marketing in B2C facing do have existing approaches and plans for brands. However, as the market develops or market changes, it's inherently not easy to switch gears and move away or only look at one approach.

- Approaching the market keeping the customer's needs at the centre is not a deeply ingrained process across most businesses. Hence there will be an initial challenging period during which businesses might question the value of the practices being put in place. Traction will be achieved over time by sustained activities showing how marketing activities helped to get better value, and also measuring the same (pre-post system to evaluate the additional value)

Business Leadership :

Execute initiatives to improve Sales & Marketing function of targeted Businesses - Understand Business's need for improvement and drive, with help of team leader, specific initiatives to improve their capability.

- To help marketing teams define requirements and support through advice and active participation

Project leadership:

To execute projects to ensure they are implemented as per plan - To plan Project related activities and ensure they are executed as per plan.

- Interact and engage with stakeholders to ensure they contribute as per the plan

- Manage interactions with external agencies on a day-to-day basis with the advice of the team leader

Brand Development :

To support the brand development projects across business. - Good understanding of consumer and branding fundamentals

- Develop /help create brand planning frameworks

- Ensure an archive of all brand development projects and such related work is maintained at a central repository, capturing learnings for future use & easy retrieval.

- While the role doesn't have a direct report, there'll be extended team members for various projects, and the role will be responsible for helping the team leader to direct the extended team members to maximise output.
