Deputy General Manager - Buying - Ethnic Wear - Retail (12-20 yrs)
DGM - Buying (Ethnic wear) With leading Retail brand
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY :
1.Product Strategy and Planning
- Understand the trends prevailing in the international market and customize the same to suit the needs of the domestic market
- Identify and assess the available market opportunity for new and existing categories, markets and brands (quantitative and qualitative)
- Strategize space planning
- Validate and initiate buying as per OTB
- Ensure timely delivery and availability of right stocks at the store
- Ensure the availability of assortment of the brands as per defined norms
- Monitor the ageing of stock with reference to the total stock available as per defined norms
- Derive product and pricing strategy
- Final range sign off to be in line with the plan and budgets (only for Pvt. label)
2. Product Performance and Profitability :
- Plan, finalize and drive the sales, margin and inventory for the brands/private label
- Perform gap analysis post launch for new brands / new products and take required actions
- Track and analyze performance/feedback of brands and products and take corrective actions
- Review the brand wise and private label-wise profitability and take required actions with respect to both profitable and non-profitable brands
- Track competition with respect to business performance, promotions and productivity and take required actions
- Liaise and interface with online /retail team for driving online/retail sales
- Build and manage relationships with licensing brand and distribution channel (only for Pvt Label)
3. Brand Management :
- Build long term and sustainable relationships with brand partners and vendors (by understanding their strategy, positioning, scalability, relevance and best practices)
- Negotiate terms of trade with new brands and regularly review performance of existing brands for corrective action
4. Vendor Management (applicable only for Pvt. Label) :
- Build long term and sustainable relationships with vendors (by understanding their market equity, expertise, capabilities, compliance and scalability)
- Set quality expectations in relation to cost for products
- Identify the right vendor for right product in collaboration with the Sourcing team (APL)
- Provide final production approvals along with the Design team (APL)
- Customer Engagement / Experience
- Enhance the customer experience through brand, product, presentation and service
- Build the category through properties (eg. category fests)
- Undertake focused customer interactions to obtain feedback on the category and take required actions
5. People Management :
- Build a high performing team
- Set expectations and give regular feedback to team to maximize performance
- Guide, coach, train and develop the team
