About the Company.
- AP Cement Works was a subsidiary of Grasim Industries Limited acquired by Aditya Birla Group from L&T Group in 2004
- Installed capacity of 2 MTPA commissioned in 1998, enhanced to 2.7 MTPA over next six years through several improvements and modifications; plant went through further expansion in 2008 by putting up a second Line with another 3.4 MTPA
- Currently, total cement production capacity of APCW, along with the associated Units, is 11 MTPA.
- The integrated plant is associated with two grinding units and one bulk terminal - Arakkonam Grinding Unit (ARCW) in Tamil Nadu, Ginigera Grinding Unit (GICW) in Karnataka and Shankarapalli Bulk Terminal (SBT) in Hyderabad
- Unit has also established a thermal power plant of 2 X 25 MW capacity to cater the plant's power requirement.
- APCW Mine has a production capacity of 9.20 MTPA; mine lease extents to 844.939 Ha
Brief Job Profile.
Purpose of the role
- drive progressive and all-around improvements in manufacturing operations aligned to business and corporate benchmarks by involving all employees (top management to last operative)
- oversee technical services function (process improvements; energy efficiency; alternate fuel; de-bottlenecking etc)
- define, discuss, develop programmes / projects aimed at achieving - zero waste-, - zero stock-, - zero failure-, - zero defect-
Strategic Roles
- support achievement of business results (OTIF, market share; profitability; Global competitive capability etc) through investments in world class manufacturing techniques; (for achieving improvements in quality, productivity; reduction of non-value added tasks, cost, waste; increased employee participation, innovations etc)
Operational Roles
- organise, co-ordinate and conduct improvement studies; drive actions on a project mode to achieve desired outcomes to enable continued commitment of top management to WCM practices
- constantly benchmark against India based or Global peers, and, make business cases for WCM programmes / projects
- ensure dissemination of WCM at grass-root levels
Tactical Roles
- maintain relations with internal customers & users (to constantly align WCM tasks with priorities of internal customers and calibrate efforts for quick achievement of targeted outcomes)
Brief Candidate Profile.
- BE / B Tech; preferably Mechanical
- Min 15 years of work experience
Relevant Experience.
- should have been in a technical services role with a comparable cement or other continuous process industry overseeing programmes / projects spanning process, equipment, instrumentation, people etc
- should have planned and implemented technological interventions (retrofit or - greenfield- ) for effecting benchmark improvements
Key Deliverables.
- achievement of envisaged operational and/or business results commensurate to investments in WCM programmes
Key Technical Competencies.
- broad understanding of all business processes; especially pertaining to manufacturing operations; understanding of critical success factors for business overall and for manufacturing operations
- knowledge of existing or emerging technology; an appreciation of how these can be harnessed for the Organization
