Data Scientist - Python/Machine Learning - EdTech - IIT/NIT/BITS

We are looking for a candidate with strong analytical abilities and experience in statistical/machine learning modelling to synthesize and leverage data in EdTech domain.

The objective is to work in quick iterations, using the statistical and machine learning techniques and algorithms best suited for solving the problems at hand.

Role and Responsibilities:

- Data mining using state-of-the-art methods

- Processing, cleansing and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis

- Extending company's data with third party sources of information when needed

- Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems

- Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

- Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques

- Working on NLP, Bayesian Net and other machine learning algorithms to enhance product performance

- Productionize models and integrate as features to specific products

Skills/competencies required

- Must have an engineering degree from Tier -1 institutes preferably with coursework in operation research, statistics, machine learning or programming

- 2 to 3 years of experience in analytics domain

- Strong understanding of at least 3 different machine learning models preferably NLP, Decision trees and Bayes Nets

- Familiarity with significance testing, sampling, descriptive statistics, and multivariate statistics

- Hands on experience in Python and comfortable with relational and non-relational databases

- Understanding of Item Response Theory, impact assessment will be an added advantage
