POSITION SUMMARY: Data Scientist (Individual Contributor Role) : A data scientist who will be able to partner with several internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver cutting edge data analyses for a big data analytics product in the financial space. This position will also focus on R&D in enhancing current analysis and providing thought leadership for future direction.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The position reports into a Manager

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

- Develop a multi-tenant cloud based analytics platform to house and analyze structured and semi structured data at big data scale by working closely with product management and engineering teams.

- Work with product management to understand analytics problem areas and use cases. Develop/improve statistical and predictive modelling algorithms and visualization to fit the use cases.

- Consult and advise the development team in implementing and testing the models.

- Analyze production data on an ongoing basis to fine tune analysis models and come up with new models or use cases of value to customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Develop a good understanding of products and industry landscape. Understand the nature of various data sources available within the domain.

- Work with product management to identify the most suitable models and visualizations for identified problem areas and use cases.

- Work with Developers and Testers to ensure analytical models and visualizations are understood, accurately implemented, and tested before release to production.

- Analyze data to perform extrapolatory analysis, pattern analysis, and trend analysis.

- Build powerful and highly predictive models using robust and contemporary, modern statistical methods such as regression, neural networks etc.

- Validate the model using best practices and techniques.

- Document model findings and present the same in a lucid, simple, and intuitive way for internal and external stakeholders that are not statisticians

- Identify new opportunities for leveraging available data to provide analyses of value to customers.

- Work with the analytics team to continuously improve processes, model accuracy, and overall results as a product team

- Build rich multi-dimensional reports and data visualizations to present findings and support team with reporting and data requests as needed.

- Contributes to development of analytical processing code and visualization code on a case by case basis.

- Able to identify problems and suggest improvements, or adapt existing methods and techniques drawing from past experiences and feedback.

- Actively acquires more complex skills, techniques, operating practices in order to progress towards full proficiency in the field of specialization.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Passion for solving customer problems through innovative analysis of data.

- Self-starter, independent and with ability to come up with solutions to complex problems.

- Trains and upskills the team on analytical and visualization techniques.

BASE REQUIREMENTS :

- Fulltime Bachelor and/or Master's Degree in Engineering (or MCA) with a minimum of 60% grade

- The ability to work independently and in small teams, partner effectively cross-group, and manage multiple priorities and deliverables concurrently.

- Strong and effective communication (both written and verbal) with colleagues, business leaders, and external stakeholders including customers

JOB & REQUIREMENT

The ideal candidate needs to be familiar with the following techniques and tools, with an expert-level experience in some:

- Should have 3+ years of experience in Data Analytics with an overall experience of 8+ years.

- Excellent applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.

- Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.

- Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Python, MatLab etc. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable.

- Experience with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau etc.

- Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig etc

- Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase

- Proficient at translating unstructured business problems into an abstract mathematical framework.

- Great communication skills
