Job Description :-

Job Purpose

- To design a fail-safe architecture of Data Centre (DC) & Date Recovery Centre (DR) based on the Architecture Blueprint created by the Chief Architect’s Team;

- To ensure delivery & installation by the Implementation Partners as per defined requirements & within the guidelines of cost, quality & time

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Design of Architecture

- Design a fail-safe architecture for the DC & DR in line with the organizational requirements covering aspects like allocation & utilization of space and resources, creation of construction blueprints for optimal functioning of the DC/DR in compliance with the architectural blueprint

- Ensure that the Technology System is 99.99 % available to the stakeholders

Implementation Lead

- To actively support the technology team in integrating cutting edge technology with optimum design patterns.

- To lead the vendor identification process for the implementation of the civil lay out design.

- To identify partners who are needed to compliment with expertise in certain niche areas.

- To oversee the project delivery standards (quality & timeline) of the identified vendor, against data centre and disaster recovery centre plans.

Monitoring Implementation by Vendors

- Monitor the construction work undertaken by the Implementation Partners in terms of review of the architectural plans created for the DC/ DR; Ensure compliance with the architectural blueprint and minimal disruption to the work undertaken by the Technology Department

- Ensure that the DC/DR Facility being constructed meets health and safety requirements adopted by the organization
Logistics & Operations

- Provide inputs for planning critical services at the DC/DR Facility such as security, physical data archiving, waste disposal etc; Design access controls for the DC/DR Facility to ensure physical security of the data

- Ensure development of robust back-up or alternative systems for problems which may strongly impact core activities such as power shortage

- Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues at the DC/DR Facility during the construction phase and resolve issues escalated by the Implementation Partners

- Develop policies & procedures for governing the use of the DC/DR Facility post construction

- Undertake development & implementation of an Enterprise-wide Disaster Recovery & Organization Continuity Plan

RFP Preparation

- Understand the Infrastructure Blueprint created by the Chief Architect’s Team to undertake detailing of the design & specification of DC/ DR Architecture

- Provide inputs for bid-process management for selection of Implementation Partners for development of DC/DR; Provide inputs for evaluation of vendors, make budgetary quotations for purchase of hardware needs etc.
