Data Architect - IT

Company are undergoing a major transformation as they evolve into a data and platform business offering world class insight and capability to students, Universities, and faculty.

A key component of this transformation will be a clear data architecture and technology plan to implement the data architecture.

Company will appoint a Chief Data Officer responsible for defining the business strategy and requirements for data, ensuring compliance and management of data as an asset. Reporting to the CTO the data architect will use this output to ensure a cloud based architecture can deliver the needs of the business. The data architecture will create a conceptual data model, convert this to a technology solution and govern delivery against this vision.

To be successful in this role you will require the following

Qualifications:

- Desirable AWS Associate Solutions Architect and/ or demonstrable experience of implementing data architecture solutions on AWS.

Knowledge & Experience:

- Experience of producing new physical data models from logical models and, where necessary, creating physical models of existing databases.

- Working in mixed vendor multi-cloud environments with exposure to AWS

- Experience with the evaluation and selection of new database technologies based on the required data profile.

- Working with Relational and NoSQL database technologies both hosted (IaaS) and managed (PaaS).

- Investigates corporate data requirements, and applies data analysis, design, modelling, and quality assurance techniques, to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions). Provides advice and guidance to database designers and others using the data structures and associated components.

Technical & People Skills:

- Communicates fluently, orally and in writing, and can present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Happy working in a matrixed environment with a Chief Data Officer

- Publishes information content selecting appropriate channels and formats for the stakeholder audience. Maintains and updates content management processes.

- Applies a range of analytical techniques in consultation with experts.

- Performs research to build on and refine outline ideas. Collects and analyses qualitative and quantitative data as required. Creates research reports to communicate research methodology, findings and conclusions.

- Plans, schedules and monitors own work to meet time and quality targets.

- Familiarity with a variety of Enterprise Architecture (EA) tools, methods, standards and techniques, such as use cases, object-oriented analysis &design and selects appropriately. Provides advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards.
