Audio Data Scientist
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collaborate with research, data science, and engineering to develop techniques for measuring, predicting, and increasing patient satisfaction with the Whisper hearing system
- Identify strategies to make trade-offs between different hearing aid algorithms in different scenarios based on patient preferences and discrimination ability; collaborate with the audio DSP and ML teams to implement those strategies
- Investigate and evaluate novel techniques or new technologies taken from recent literature that have the potential to improve patient outcomes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- 3+ years of academic or industry experience developing audio signal processing algorithms
- Proficient in Python and familiarity with other systems languages (e.g. C/C++)
- Audio qualification experience, including calibration procedures, test procedures, equipment, tools, etc.
- Experience developing metrics, assessment techniques, and tools to improve the performance of signal processing algorithms using field data
- Experience with applying machine learning algorithms to audio or visual data
- Experience working in teams focused software engineering environment (e.g. code reviewing, source control, etc)
- Clear communication skills and a team multiplier
- BS, MS, or PhD in EE, CS, Statistics, or related technical field
BONUS POINTS :
- Experience with audio DSP techniques (e.g. adaptive filtering, filter banks, noise suppression, beamforming, speech analysis and synthesis, speech and audio coding, etc.)
- Experience using machine learning techniques (e.g. deep neural nets) to solve audio tasks like speech enhancement, audio event classification, or voice detection
- Experience building low power wearable products
- A personal connection to improving hearing health
