Crisil - Analyst - Proxy Advisory & Corporate Governance

The Opportunity:

We are currently looking to hire an Analyst to work with the Responsibility SBU of a US-based Asset Manager. This SBU coordinates the client's internal environmental stewardship, social responsibility and corporate governance and also has the oversight for responsible investing across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and the sell-side. Activities include ESG strategy and thought leadership, ESG research, engagement and investment integration, ESG reporting and working in conjunction with business development on ESG products. This role focuses specifically on proxy voting and engagement portions of the firm's ESG integration process.

You will get to:

1. Become an integral member of the Proxy Team to implement the firm's approach to corporate governance towards portfolio companies via proxy voting and engagements in partnership with investment teams.

2. Assist in developing strategy and policies on ESG integration and stewardship.

3. Maintain awareness of new ESG standards and best practices, and make appropriate recommendations on adherence.

4. Provide subject matter expertise and support on all ESG matters across the Company

The broad spectrum of work may include the following:

- Play a key role in helping manage the proxy voting process for equity positions

- Learn and apply our proxy voting policy to individual securities

- Perform in-depth research and analysis on more complex proxy proposals

- Liaise and communicate with investment teams on proxy proposals

- Compile proxy reports and statistics

- Conduct proxy and governance analysis with the Director of Corporate Governance and Proxy team

- Identify emerging topics and best practices in corporate governance and proxy voting

- Conduct research to identify optimal client position or policy

- Assist in the implementation of new developments in the client's policy

- Assist in the engagement process with management teams of portfolio companies on ESG matters

- Prepare for engagements through research on issues and question formulation

- Work with investors and Responsible Investing team to plan and conduct meetings

- Support investment teams proactively and reactively as needed

- Scan new for relevant information and issues on existing holdings

- Liaise with analysts and portfolio teams

- Help analysts and portfolio teams with specific engagements, issues and research
