AVP - Legal Entity Control - Investment Banking Entities


We Offer:

- Month end close

- Act as a Senior SME for any accounting issues for Loans, Letter of Credit, Guarantees & trading & non-trading Commissions

- Handle new business or queries for above products from Front office

- Co-ordinate with Accounting Policy group or Project team to provide due accounting & technical solution to Front office & other stakeholders

- Support the team in closing Legal Entity books and records for Private Banking

- Asset Management and Investment Banking entities in accordance with local and group accounting policies and timelines and local and group materiality ie.

- Executing month-end processes and procedures, including journals, data analysis, integrity checks and financial summaries and provide meaningful commentaries

- Execute / oversight of disclosures

- Support inter-company break resolution

- Understand the significant controls and processes within Control and Reporting that impact the entity and, where control issues are identified, obtain comfort that control

- Perform analytical review & review variance commentary for operating expense positions and coordinate with divisional controllers to understand the business rationale of movements. To ensure that accounting has been done as per accounting policies

- Support investigation of inter-company breaks. Ensuring that there are no unexplained / unidentified inter-company breaks

- Prepare legal entity package (US GAAP and Swiss GAAP) used for presentations to Legal Entity controllers and senior management

- Reviewing SoX sign off and ensuring appropriate substantiation for SOX and quality assurance review.

- Addressing ad hoc queries from various stakeholders and counterparties, e.g. Tax, Consolidation, internal and external auditors and divisional finance teams globally.

- To drive process improvements within areas under responsibility.

- Involvement in change & project initiatives Provide SME input into the new business process coordinated by the Finance Change/Group Finance Regional Stakeholder Manager Proactively support Organizational Change initiatives and constantly review processes for efficiencies by challenging status-quo of existing processes/practices

You Offer

Looking for qualified CA's only.

- Knowledge of US GAAP and Swiss GAAP accounting and regulatory requirements, An understanding of key aspects associated with the financial statements and the notes to the financial statements of the legal entity

- Knowledge of the key processes that feed the legal entity reporting-relevant data and the related hand-offs amongst other departments

- Basic Knowledge of operations of Private baking & Shared Services entities

- Knowledge of reporting systems and respective upstream feeds including an understanding of potential impacts on the end-to-end reporting flows

- Knowledge of the key processes for maintaining the accounting ledgers of the legal entity. The LEC must understand the data flows and related financial accounting controls for material and/ or higher risk balances within a legal entity's general ledger

- Appropriate product knowledge

- Clear understanding of control standards by which the legal entity and firm is governed, including those established by the Pan Finance OpRisk Control & SOX 404 Compliance function

 Education /Skills - 

- Professional Accountancy Qualification (CA or CPA preferred) with above 9 years of relevant experience

- Strong communication skills, ie ability to communicate aross departments and regions

- Leadership & Client handling skills

- Ability to multitask in a complex, fast paced work environment, ie organizational, presentation skills

- Analytical and structured thinking and problem solving skills

- Accountability and responsibility. independent working style and attention to detail

- University Graduate with good honors degree. MBA or equivalent post-graduation will be an added advantage

- More than 12 years relevant work experience in Financial Institutions

- Has previously worked in the financial industry and lead / managed sizable cross-border system implementations

- Has built and managed large team of between 10 - 30 resources.
