Corporate Tax Manager/Corporate Tax Specialist
Position Overview: The Corporate Tax Manager/Specialist is responsible for overseeing the tax-related activities of the corporation. This role ensures that the organization complies with all relevant tax laws, regulations, and policies, and strategically plans to minimize tax liabilities while maximizing tax benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for the corporation.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Manage audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and advise on potential impacts.
Tax Planning:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the corporation's tax position.
- Analyze potential tax liabilities and savings.
- Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions from a tax perspective.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external advisors to plan for and implement tax-saving strategies.
Financial Reporting:
- Oversee tax-related aspects of financial reporting, including deferred taxes and tax provisions.
- Prepare and review tax-related disclosures for financial statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely tax reporting under relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate tax risks for the corporation.
- Develop and implement internal controls related to tax processes.
- Ensure compliance with international tax regulations, including transfer pricing, VAT, and other cross-border tax issues.
Team Leadership:
- Manage a team of tax professionals, if applicable.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, consultants, and legal counsel.
Communication and Advisory:
- Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals, including senior management and other stakeholders.
- Advise on the tax implications of business decisions.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, legal, and operations, to ensure tax considerations are integrated into overall business planning.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Experience with tax planning, compliance, and reporting.
- Proficiency with tax software and financial reporting systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience with international tax and transfer pricing is a plus.
