Job Purpose :  - Formulate & execute long term & short term logistics strategy for effective movement of finished goods from factory to distributor  - To optimise value to the business on external spends by effectively stategising, formulating and concluding commercial deals on freight.  - Deliver cost savings in the primary freight spend  - Continuous improvement in freight services, freight system and processes  - Selection of right service providers and vendor management  - Transport performance management, improvement in operational practices and transport planning  - Lead Distribution Network Strategy implementations  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :  Logistics Sourcing :  - Negotiate effectively to agree prices and other terms of contract with the vendors.  - Own and manage supplier relationships to ensure achievement of desired performance levels.  - Liaison with vendors and internal stakeholders for development of suppliers and services in order to meet any new business requirements.  - Perform in accordance with sound business ethics, purchasing and supply standards, policies and procedures to give company the highest possible perceived integrity in all relationships.  Logistics Cost Management :  - Evolve and implement long term sustainable strategy for effective logistics spend in movement of material from factory to depot or distributors  - Drive effective cost management initiatives to meet budget deliverables / targets  - Continuously evolve Distribution network & routing optimization  - Set annual primary freight budget for each Brand and Category  - Create distribution network strategy for new products and provide base line freight inputs  - Influence and input Mfg. Site Network Strategy to achieve freight optimization  - Innovation in packaging inputs / Transportation mode and improvement in operational practices to reduce freight spend  Logistics Service Management :  - Responsible for effective Upstream (Site to Depot) Stock movement to ensure no sales loss and efficient working capital management  - Track, control and improve transit lead time  - Improve Transport placement performance  - Own and manage supplier relationships to ensure achievement of desired performance levels  - Liaison with vendors and internal stakeholders for development of suppliers and services in order to meet any new business requirements  - Identifies implements & continuously improves systems & processes in order to deliver greater effectiveness of service for the company & customers  - Support product freshness through effective Transportation and Distribution Network Optimization  - Establish right performance KPI and continuously track and improve   - Influence HOP in selection of right service provider   Logistics Planning :  - Set daily, weekly and monthly Transport planning process for indenting, business share allocation, mode mix and transit delays  - Ensure Replenishment planning to maximize full truck load movement  - Track and Improve load-ability  - Contingency Planning in the event of disruptions and strikes  - Monthly Brand and Site freight cost spend planning  Project Management :  - Improve/Set freight management IT tool to deliver high performance in execution of Transportation Cost and Service Management  - Execution of logistics central hub for outsourcing transport monitoring and cost improvement  - Participate in projects on Site network strategy formulation  - Develop distribution and transportation network model on Strategy   - Actively contribute in new product introduction and launches  - Ensure delivery of Inventory reduction for improvement in working capital management  - Benchmark logistics cost and transit lead time performance within the industry  - Support new initiative in improvement of secondary freight  Raw Material Buying :  - Support Digestive healthcare category for raw material buying  - Understanding trends in the RM Category to use forward contracting to save increased costs  - Drive long term contracts  - Support NPI in the category  Requirements :  - MBA in Operations / Supply Chain from premier B-school.  - 8 to 12 years of experience in procurement and logistics.  - Knowledge and understanding of FMCG business.  - Knowledge of procurement processes and policies.  - Understanding of Sourcing group management tools and techniques.  - Knowledge of Supply Chain Management practices  - Knowledge and understanding of freight markets  - Understanding of Supply Chain tools, and techniques.  - Understanding of indirect tax laws  - Commercial acumen  - Ability to analyse volume of data and draw inferences.
