Job Summary: Jobs like this involve providing specialist / technical underwriting support to the Business and assisting in setting and monitoring of portfolio standards and strategy. You will be involved in providing analytical support to assist portfolio analysis, performance monitoring and decision-making. You will support others in the technical community, and you will work with Group, regional and local underwriting colleagues developing and improving underwriting policies, procedures and practices, whilst maintaining appropriate standards. You will use your analytical and communication skills to prepare and deliver timely, accurate and relevant information. Duties &amp; Responsibilities: - Bringing together all the capabilities of the company from Group, Region and County and from all functions to the developmental benefit the portfolio - Providing technical leadership, direction, governance, challenge, support, guidance and advice to Sales &amp; Underwriting colleagues to deliver market-leading products, secure profitable business and develop the underwriting function in line with the global Underwriting strategy - Directly contribute to the development and management of risk strategies and performance and long term development of the portfolio. - Managing the administration associated with risk plans and the Group and Regional Licensing framework ensuring compliance with established standards, procedures and guidance. - Contributing to the development and maintenance of accurate, up-to-date Technical procedures, process manuals, documentation standards, etc. to ensure group, legal and regulatory requirements are met. - Working with a pricing actuary and claims team to understand our market and build and maintain pricing tools that enable other trading underwriters and perhaps online and call centre operations to quickly understand risk exposures and the various price points we use to understand the health of each transaction and the portfolio - Developing and implementing initiatives to manage loss ratio Developing tools to monitor and subsequently monitor KPIs like: - GWP - NWP - Underwriting Loss Ratio - Financial Loss Ratio - Attritional Loss Ratio - Large &amp; Weather Loss Ratio - Claim movements - Prior Year impacts in Current Year results - Rate plan - Retention - Actual Price vs. Technical Price - Market rates, performance and insight - Leading, contributing to and co-operating with audits, reviews and underwriting validations as required in order to support and enable the maintenance of an effective control environment. - Actively contributing to the development of segment and local customer propositions, and associated sales planning and account development, bringing knowledge and insight of the market and its risks, proactively identifying opportunities to increase penetration of existing customers and / or expand the business mix. - Leading and/or contributing to the identification of and research into new product and proposition development opportunities, drawing on own experience and on personal contact network e.g. Reinsurers, to enable the development of leading edge, competitive and profitable business solutions - Reviewing non-standard case referrals and deliver underwriting decisions, following agreed processes at the designated authority level, in order to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite. - Providing expert advice, guidance and coaching to less qualified and / or experienced colleagues to address technical referrals and raise standards and expertise across the technical community. - Accurately compiling reinsurance data and profile information KPI: - Annual goals agreed with direct manager. - Quality and levels of service and reporting provided. - Feedback from customers and colleagues. - Operational efficiency - Personal contribution to team productivity - Compliance with legal, regulatory and Group policy requirements. - Contribution to product development Size &amp; Scope: - Reports to Head of Commercial portfolio &amp; Underwriting,Oman - Job holder will be responsible for the Commercial Motor portfolio. This roles has no direct reports. - Other areas of responsibilities would include: - Emphasis on accumulations and scenario modeling - Fleet Risk Management Services - Responsible for technical referrals to the Head of Commercial Portfolio &amp; Underwriting and content in respect of referrals to authority out of Oman - Monitoring performance of claims and providing support to deliver an effective and fair claims management process. - Ensuring regular review of Health open claims files is conducted regularly to ensure adequacy of reserves. - Ensuring the production of timely accurate and up to date claims MI and statistics as required - Ensure TPA audits and review of performance to SLA is done regularly and findings discussed with Management for corrective action. - Handling and escalating enquiries/complaints pertaining to the Health Claims by providing response in a prompt and efficient manner.
