Job Title - Direct Tax Lead

Reporting to (job title) - Head of India Tax

Overall purpose of job :

Candidate will be responsible to head the India Direct Tax Function in coordination with Regional and Global tax offices

Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Lead a team of tax professionals based in India for all India direct tax compliances i.e. withholding taxes, remittance to non-residents, advance taxes etc.

2. Responsible for the review of the monthly and yearly tax provision under I GAAP & US GAAP prepared by Finance

3. Support all US GAAP tax reporting requirements e.g. FIN48, NOL- s, Cash Tax forecast, Deferred Tax etc.

4. Partner with Head of India tax, Finance Team and Regional tax team on planning initiatives to reduce ETR

5. Ensure compliance with filing to DSIR authorities to claim R&D tax benefits

6. Lead and engage with Finance team on data required for all India tax filings, audits, litigations and appeals

7. Lead all India transfer pricing documentation requirements including preparation of segment results, BEPS (CbCR and Master File) etc.

8. Lead all India corporate income tax and transfer pricing assessments/audits / appeals together with the external consultants

9. Partner with the business to provide tax advisory support on business initiatives, including but not limited to transfer pricing advisory, business restructuring, legal agreement reviews etc.

10. Partner with finance team to develop process improvements that will automate data collation and fulfill tax compliance obligations efficiently and effectively

11. Review key financial workstreams (such as withholding tax, loans and advances tax balances, intercompany, etc.), identify tax related gaps in controls and processes and propose solutions to minimize tax risks

12. Manage tax consultants and tax professional fees budget for India

13. Communicate relevant tax updates in a timely manner and ensure appropriate tax knowledge transfer to the finance and business teams

Education, qualifications, special training, experience and skills

1. A Chartered accountant with minimum 10-15 years of post-qualification experience in the field of taxation

2. Should be conversant with leading accounting packages such as SAP, ERP etc.

3. Excellent communicator (both verbal and writing), with strong analytical and presentation skills

4. Ability to be flexible, deal with ambiguity and prioritize multiple responsibilities and activities in high pressure situations

5. Go-getter, proactive towards problems and issues, team player
