Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Planning:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and file various tax returns, including corporate income tax, sales tax, payroll tax, and property tax returns.
- Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations and their impact on the company.
Tax Team Management & Development:
- Lead and manage a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and training.
- Recruit and develop top talent within the tax team to ensure adequate staffing and expertise.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes professional growth and development.
Tax Advisory & Consulting:
- Provide strategic tax advice to management on mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other significant business transactions.
- Identify and mitigate potential tax risks and liabilities.
- Collaborate with other departments (finance, accounting, legal) to ensure effective tax planning and compliance.
Tax Audits & Investigations:
- Manage tax audits and investigations conducted by tax authorities.
- Prepare and respond to tax audit requests and inquiries.
- Represent the company in tax-related disputes and negotiations.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional certification is required.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in tax management or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proven experience in managing and developing tax teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with tax software and systems
