Cipla - Lead - Demand & Supply Chain (6-8 yrs)

Job Purpose:

Lead and drive supply security, demand forecasting, derisking of supplies , replenishment process , operating and running the SAP IBP Tool and inventory management for SSA region; with the support of robust demand forecasting replenishment management and inventory planning resources. Collaborate with functional teams including business Commercial , Marketing, Central Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality, Regulatory , New Product Development to support the supply chain operating model

Key Accountabilities:

Accountability Cluster Major Activities / Tasks

I. Drive, manage and implement supply chain strategies to support the organizational objectives and provide SSA with a competitive advantage in the areas of cost, quality and delivery.

II. Drive replenishment process from Cipla India to Channel partners at the optimal inventory levels - Identify key opportunities to ensure that a strategically right and cost effective supply chain model is leveraged.

- Ensure that the strategic model is devised by forecasting budget volume; proper space planning and integrating the supply chain model with marketing and sales team to ensure growth and profitability.

- Provide key input on capabilities requirements and solutions to support the execution of business strategies

- Investigate and provide market intelligence to the business to keep up with market scenario and current and changing trends within the Supply Chain function and their impact on business

- Partner with the global purchasing Procurement organization in making strategic purchasing Procurement decisions to take advantage of volume purchasing and result in better pricing

- Periodically meet with the global purchasing purchasing Procurement leadership group to strengthen relationship and enhance coordination of efforts.

- Manage supplier performance to include continuous improvement, innovations and reduction in total cost of ownership.

- Maintain and analyse supplier data for evaluating product quality, on-time deliveries & costs

- Drive and implement process improvements to ensure scalability and future growth.

- Design and drive the S&OP process and requisite infrastructure and system ( SAP IBP) and digital platforms to manage product availability and system ways of working .

- Drive design, deployment and continuous improvement of running the business through the 5 Step Sales and Operations Planning process

- Ensure that the suppliers that are appointed for the distribution centres are tracked.

- Integrate with Project Management and or Finance or Commercial to ensure Quality product is released to market.

- Develop and manage demand forecasts for all product categories to achieve the overall sales objectives for SSA.

- Manage end to end demand forecasting (volume and value) for the supply chain function by capturing accurate forecast for all Cipla products in order to improve forecast accuracy and customer service levels in line with external benchmarks

- Analyse and review forecasts and assess the risk to supply and demand variability in order to manage and mitigate risk

- Manage forecast models by maintaining and managing the forecast tools in order to ensure accuracy of the data

- Develop and measure key performance indicators to track and evaluate forecasts made, to assist in assessing the effectiveness of the demand planning & forecasting function, and to work towards continuous improvement

- Anchor Co-Ordinate the consolidation of all supplies and forecasts across the market to establish a Strat plan and forecast of requirements. Ensuring that the Strat plan, budget and forecast are accurate and relevant.

V. Drive the War on Waste agenda and Manage the inventory planning process in order to support the demand forecasts accurately and achieve overall sales objectives in close coordination with Supply Planning / Manufacturing team. - Manage inventory target (including safety stock levels) by effective inventory planning and tracking of products

- Maintaining and establishing accurate product stock norms and product classifications (A,B,C) Using the best in class analytical methods. Creating, managing and driving continued updates on the analysis

- Ensure the availability of stock by product categories in order to meet current and identified future demands and avoid out of stock situations. In all instances, be aware of possible OOS, and existing OOS SKU's and project managing the full risk mitigation process to mitigate risk and to reduce the OOS % to below the KPI % threshold.

- Track the stock received from suppliers in order to maintain communication with logistics for shipments to the warehouse and distribution centres

- Analyse and generate report by order to track the quantities and when it should be delivered to the Warehouse in order to meet scheduled timelines

- Provide input to the Supply Chain and Procurement team by developing inventory strategies on existing and new products in order to track the irregularities and out of stock situations.

- Track and project inventory levels on a SKU and global level.

- Minimize out of stock number to within acceptable budget and threshold norms and project accurate out of stock impact over time. Making sure that an early warning system is in place.

- Support business, marketing, inventory or production strategies, and organisational / supply chain improvement opportunities to meet market needs. Actively assess available capacities and develop strategies to increase capacities where risks are apparent.

- Review and assess risk to supply and demand variability and identify opportunities to manage and mitigate risk.

- Develop, implement and use tools and technology for managing and analysing the supplier portfolio

- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders.

VI. Drive initiatives in people and system fronts to suit the regional requirements for continuous development of regional SCM performance - Drive SAP and related systems' improvements and customisations in coordination with various teams

- Drive projects and initiatives in regional SCM function :

a. Spends analysis

b. Budgeting exercise

c. Benchmark processes and ensure implementation of best management practices

5. Major Challenges :

- Dependence on supply planning teams and manufacturing function.

- Frequent requests for additional requirements from business (outside the cycle); One needs to take an assessment of the disruption it would cause and manage the business stakeholders effectively to push such demands into the regular cycle after evaluating the business criticality. If it is deemed business critical, one would need to ensure the plans are changed and all affected parties are intimated of the change.

- Sales forecast from the BD/sales teams can be inconsistent in data quality and formats

- Multiple systems and platforms in SCM causes issues in ownership of end-to-end order ownership

6. Key Interactions

Who (internal/external) does this position interact with on a regular basis to perform this role? How often and for what purpose?

Internal External :

- Leadership Team for process approvals, new project initiation and alignment and in-case of a crisis or problem. Supply & Logistics (when escalated) providers for all supply and logistics related tracking, negotiations and finalizations. De-bottlenecking and problem solving

- National Key Accounts Manager and Commercial Head , (weekly) National & regional sales manager for managing client order and delivery schedule. Also alignment on sales strategy and supply security to support strategy Distribution Centres (daily) for queries related to stock holdings and any labour related query or matter. Staff meetings and resource strategy and oversight

- Finance team (Weekly) for all budget related queries and reporting. Pricing, procurement and contracting of vendors and suppliers. Integration of financial and control systems (ERP) Logistics partners and importation authorities

- Regulatory (Weekly) to ensure compliance to all health, safety, product related guidelines and for audit purposes. Supply security amendment and registration timelines (new and existing products)

- HR for all resource requirements, staff performance and HR compliance related matters. Including staff development and career development initiatives

Educational qualifications:

- B Pharm / Bachelor's degree and a Master's in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field

Relevant experience:

- 6-8 years of experience in Supply Chain with sufficient experience in FMCG / Pharma / Consulting Industry with knowledge on industry regulations for relevant region and framework with strong Interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills and skill replicability.
